    Tomorrow, Wednesday 01/12/2004

Well, I am officially taking my new baby more than 100km away from home, we are going to Gisborne from Wellington leaving at 1645. If anybody see's a blue GSX which looks like crap down the right hand side because of damage, and has 747M8 on the plate, give a wave, or a sympathetic shoulder.

    Looking forward to the ride.

However, Last night, while listening to David Bowie, I got hit with a premonition that was so strong I have never felt it before, it was a premonition that I was living my last few days on this earth, as if something really bad was going to happen, but it was not the cause of my bike. Generally when I get these feelings I am right, so I hope I am wrong. However, if I am right and you don't see a post from me Sunday night, you know the premonition was right.

Any tips for my journey. I have all my wet weather gear, my chain lube, gloves, pack rack thing. Going to fuel up tonight and got serviced this morning.

You'll have a tail wind most of the way by the looks. If you need a break, Dad lives in Havelock North. About what time do you think you'll be at Woodville?

Please ride carefully..... and WE will see you back online on Sunday.....

Take breaks and give your body a few stretches along the way so that you dont get too tired. Take care on the corners and just do the right speed and you will be fine.

If I was down that way I would ride some of the way with you.... as I am sure there maybe others out there who will do the same.

Just watch out if the road is wet... and take care when riding throu the gorge.

If you can get near a comp when you arrive in Gisborne, then come online and let us know that you made it.... I am sure that Gisborne will have an internet cafe there.

    Take care.

Dude, do not listen to David Bowie, I am quite serious, I used to get similar thoughts regarding my days on earth also, while listening to his music, especially the 1984 song, interestingly though I had my first baby in 1984 which meant life as I knew it was over!, take care, if I see you I will be sure to give you a wave etc, not going too far from home today though

Sometimes, you need to listen to those voices

    Don't like those premonition things.
I felt really uneasy about my eldest son travelling to Tauranga yesterday. He crashed the car south of Maramarua, and it sounds like it will be written off.
Fortunately, because I felt so uneasy about it, I did a little praying beforehand, and he was totally unhurt.

Sometimes people, it pays to listen to that still, small voice. I felt like I should go and pick him up, but reason told me it would be better to arrange a tow-truck (seeing he was OK) and get them to give him a lift, because I was busy at work. The tow truck took two and a half hours to get there (a one hour trip!) and just before it arrived, so did a cop, who ticketed him for careless use of a motor vehicle. Just what he needed - that will certainly aid road safety and teach him to be more careful!

    Not!!

One thing my son is not, is careless. He never speeds (yeah, hard to believe for a 20 year-old male), and in fact never even talks about driving fast, hooning or whatever. He is somewhat inexperienced with open-road driving, and was probably concentrating too hard. He was driving at about 90 km/h when a hawk he hadn't noticed flew up from the side of the road, startled him, and he swerved across the road and into an Armco barrier. The car was fairly wrecked on the right-hand side, with all the panels and the window smashed, and the front tyre and rear bumper torn off.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late

    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
