Kiwibike Insurance - the good guys

Well after many many months of riding round with no insurance and probably prompted (to be honest) by one of the shittiest winters I can remember I decided to go get some insurance today.

Rung round a few places and their attitude pissed me off right from the get go so resulted in moving to the next one.

Rung Dave at kiwibike and am very impressed with how easy he made things work out - even though there was a few leaps we had to take.

Had a really good policy worked out but as it turned out my encounters with and lack of radar detector (or responsible riding) meant they wouldnt cover me. About 2 seconds later Dave had sorted out more suitable insurance that would cover me and 5 mins after that it is all sorted.

Lets hope I dont have to write a report on what their claims dept is like.

Plus one for Dave and the crew, they told me they could get cover for me no worries(dic in 2000),just had to find out if one company would insure the bike as they didn't take bikes 20yrs old(was 19yrs at time),but if company 1 didn't company 2 would albeit at another $95 per year dearer. And they have a track cover on my policy which if your keen means a quick call and covered.Mind you I am the only rider, but can add others, seems good and most here are happy with claims procedure.

I found them pretty good too cowboyz, but my Mrs was able to save me nearly $300 in premiums. so I became her first bike customer. I also became her first bike claim and I must say it was flawless. It's a pity the same couldn't be said about my gear claim with AMI. Treated like criminal's although they ended up with egg on their face at claim conclusion and now I've just received a threat letter.

I second all of the above.

Poor Dave probably hopes he won't be hearing from me again for a while, though.

(Oh, yeah, their claims handling is bloody awesome.)

+2 for ease of getting it all sorted with Dave and co !
One call did it all ! Though they might not be the cheapest, it makes for a happy camper if there aint no stress !~
Covered for track days too if ya let Dave know with plenty of warning, so he can check with the insurers !

May have gone a bit overboard with my cover ! As the policy holder with three bikes covered i could have saved prolly 5 spot a year by only doing H's scorp 3rd party and covering both triples for one rider !
But at the time i was thinking of letting a few mates use one (not realising none had a licence rrrrr) And then only being covered for a month prior to walking for 3 sheeesh !
Still summers coming and the scorps been out twice in the last month with mates doing the full licence trip ! Almost hesitant to trade the 900 on H's next bike now lol, still a speedmaster would be fun to have lying round for the odd tour (even if it aint what she really wants lol)
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Did "Betty" go down too? Dave is sorting "Zena" at the moment. $6000 worth of damage. So he is probably sick of GSX1400K7's at the moment.
Yer KiwiBike Insurance are awesome ta deal with. Dave understands biking. Make sure ya give him ya histroy so there are not nasty surprises when ya put in a claim. It also makes Dave's job easier ta hammer out a good deal for ya with the Insurance Companies he deals with.

Im currently with state - just cos thats where all of our policies are (house, car etc) what are kiwibike like price wise compared with the likes of State etc? We had a second car and a 250cc m/bike which were costing us in total $58/month to cover... we sold both and got me the 800cc Boulevard and its costing $60/month to cover... I had expected my ins costs to go down, not up

I know the higher the CC rating the more expensive but I expected more expensive than the 250cc, not the 250cc AND a car!

Dave is a Broker, so uses more than one Company ta get ya the best deal. He sorted my work Van with Protecta and the Bike with Swann. The Van through Dave was by far a better deal than I could sort on my own. This is they Web Site: KiwiBike Insurance . The phone No. is on the front page. Give him a ring.

Doesn't sound right. Is that $256.84 per Year or Month? Is State $98.42 per Month or Year?

Both yearly and third party...Both using the online quoting system.

Never had a problem with state (got everything else with them) so for under half the price I'll stick with them...when I get my next bike I'll prob spend the extra and go thru kiwibike as track day insurance sounds good to me...but the misses wont be using it on a track so no need.
