Who buys these $35K+ US customs?

I have built a few customs in my life. But would not be seen dead on one of these.

I understand that they sell in US. But here in God Zone???

Oh and, who rides them? Have you seen one on the road?

Have you heard of Hutt Boyz Choppers?
I see Brendan (one of the partners) riding machines around the Hutt quite often. Not my cup of tea either and I like you I wonder how much of a market there is for these bikes in NZ.
They just have to be toys for the uber rich like you said because they're just so damn impractical for most of our roads there's no way you coud use one for "transport".

Yep, see them fairly regularly here in Manukau, Auckland. You go to any of the fund raising rides and you'll probably see a shiny stretched chopper like that one.

Go to a decent V8 drag meet or car show and you'll see a few in the parking lot.

There's a few home grown models out there for sure.

The guy on his GN125 probably thinks the same when he sees somebody riding past on a M50 or Rune or similar.

Just to calrify: I have only admiration for the guy who has built his own custom. Spent countless hours in the garage, had mates to make bits etc. But these that you buy for the price of a years income all ready and blinged up. I just don't get it.

met a guy in tauranga on a new years a couple years back with a beaut shiny brand new custom bike and tried to strike up a convo along the lines of 'wow, how long that take you to build?' at the time, hadn't heard of the custom shops or buying bikes like that, all i knew of was my brother and his mates making their own choppers. the guy just looked at me as he posed by his bike and said 'built? no, kid. this was BOUGHT.'

ugh. how about that guy on deal or no deal who said he wanted the $200,000 so he could buy a real american choppers chopper? what a wanker.

heres a real custom..my brothers '64 triumph saint 650, 42 degrees of rake, 5 foot front forks..almost every damn thing on that bike is custom built and polished by him, he's ridden to taumaranui twice (from new plymouth) and says its the most stupidly comfortable bike, bar the massive vibrations..

I have seen one on the road in Owrea and another parked in the viaduct one evening.

Would I pay that kinda money for one ---- umm nope.
