    Buses = Less Congestion?

    Well not this morning.

A bus had broken down in the left lane of Motorway between Esdmonde Road and the Bridge...caused a traffic build up as far as Lake Road.

Once past the bus it was clear traffic.

    Take the Bus...

We'd better pray that they don't introduce those stupid "bendy" buses here that Red Ken introduced in London a few years back.

Now those things cause serious congestion, especially when they're not broken down. F*cking dangerous too.

I really must pay more attention when riding

Seriously though, those things used to cause me no end of grief when riding through central London. Party because to the idiots that London Transport employ to drive them and party because they would clog junctions and cut me up on a regular basis.

So pretty similar to the bus driver here, I guess.

Remember when all the Stagecoach bus drivers in Auckland went on strike? Everyone drove in, or biked, or cycled, or got the train, or got lifts with friends? Remember how much better the traffic flowed, even though Auckland City Council refused to let cars etc use the bus lanes?

As an aside, during the power cut in Auckland a couple of years back, the traffic was also noticably better as none of the 1,483,583,584,375,375 (at last count) sets of traffic lights were working either. Give way rules applied, and everything worked much much better.

As another aside, on my second day in Brisbane, a bus broke down on one of the main exits from the city to the motorway south. Complete chaos ensued and we ended up moving ten metres in twenty-five minutes.

Buses - the cure to congestion.

I hate buses!!!!!(they cut me off every day)

Taking traffic off the road is what logically should happen.
    Trains/underground = less traffic.

actaully I can't afford to travel by buss, car is way cheaper. Bike is way way cheaper.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Even with maintainence costs factored in. Biking turned out to be a lot cheaper than bussing per yer.

Two thumbs up for maxx though. The bus prices are down 40% now that the busway is open and I don't even use it. _b _b

I just wish they'd get off the bus lanes. I'm continually being obstructed by them .

Ah, so that's what was wrong with the traffic around the Esmond Rd onramp this morning. 'twas ferkin mental.

Public transport costs are shit. Taking the ferry from Devonport to town would take about 45 minutes door to door with a bunch of walking and cost about $3.00 each way, even with a monthly pass.

Taking the bus would probably mean well over an hour's travel in each direction.

    Fuck that shit.

Running Betty between Devonport and Parnell each day costs me about $1.80 in petrol each way and takes just under 20 minutes door to door, regardless of traffic.

    Two wheels good.

Christchurch buses are $2.50 to anywhere, whcihs saves all this stage bullsh.
I recall reading the locals complaining when it wnet up from $2!
Even with maintenance, it is still cehaper to run a 1000cc BMW than take the bus 3 stages (10km). A small car would be cheaper still, if you didn't have to pay for parking.

Broken bus or not.. I still got stuck behind some goon on a GN250 that wouldn't use his mirrors to see me behind him. C*nt.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.
