Resale value of new ninja?

Hey,

Could someone please give me an estimate of how much a new 2008 Ninja 250R can resell for in 1,2,3,4,5 years respectively.

I am keen to get a new 2008 Ninja 250R but just yesterday my mate was saying get a 5-6grand hornet and sell it after 1-2years, so that i would save more money buying a second hand 600cc bike then if i bought a new Ninja and sold it....

I wrote my brand new bike off in 2 months. It lost a huge amount of value according to the assesor people and I could not sell it (obviously). You're bike will be worth different amounts to different people as well..... A 250 doesnt usually lose to much value/ worth though....

How good is your crystal ball? Buy what you want, and worry about how much it's worth when you trade it in when you actually do it.

I don't think anyone can give you a figure for what your bike will be worth after 1,2 or 3 years. It will depend on what condition it's in, mileage, and what the current market is like.

Personally I'd take the Kwak. At least you will know it's history, and a 250 twin is easier to ride than a four if you're new.

expect to lose $1k when you wheel it out the door, if you dont clock up huge km's, and manage to not bin it in the two years leading up to getting your full i would expect it to hold its value somewhat, perhasp $4-4.5k is reasonable?

All depends on how they hold their price at the dealers, and also how many are for sale when you come to sell yours.

I'd say use the GT250R as a good indicator of how your ninja 250 will hold/lose value - a two year old bike with 20k on the clock is still asking around $5k and they sold for $7k new.

Just make sure wen you do sell it, its the begginning of summer.

reckon the 250cc market is only going to get more expensive,as those ninjas a bloody popular and will only increase in popularity, so id expect to get around 5-6k back for it but as they say "its worth what someone is willing to pay" so with my 250 hornet i brought it for 4k and sold it for 5.5k 3 months later so i made a profit even tho i put a fair few kms on it.

The little ol'hornet is one of those bikes that will hold its value and still be attractive to new riders. If you can score one at around $5K you will still be able to sell it around that mark once you move one!

Just remember to look after them and they will look after you when it comes to moving on up ... poor little ol'hornets! But at least hornet riders are ones that look after their rides!

Check out what the old 1990ish ZXR 250s are going for that'll give you indication...over priced and over farked...
