Hyosung GT250R - "race bike"

Labeling them as a piece of shite is a bit harsh I feel. There's tonnes of them out there and I've not heard alot of horror stories. They're a budget built bike for a budget inspired market, nothing wrong with that.

However, marketing them as a race bike for the road is probably a more than a little misleading.

I agree. I am a new rider and the hyo 250 was first bike I test rode. Also rode a kawa gpx 250 a honda hornet and a couple of cbr250rrs and found the hyo a boring ride compared to the others. Was impressed by the styling but would hardly agree with "ready to race" I suspect as with most things from korea, it would pay not to expect to much of it as it will probably break
And the digital speedo??? It just looks tacky

Your talking out your arse. No they aren't a race bike. However most of the people shit talking about them, are people bitter because they had to learn on some 20 year old piece of shit.

And if the only thing you have used is a Hyosuky then you have no idea what a good bike feels like...

Mate of mine bought an '06 naked GT250 a month or so back. When I went round to check it out I was surprised to see it had only one set of brakes on the front. My GT250R has two disc brakes on the front and pulls up well when I need it to. I suspect a lot of the shit talk about hyo brakes comes from the naked version and not from the R.

But then what would I know? My last bike was an XL200 about 20 years ago and it had almost no brakes at all.

Comparing a 20 year old bike to one of the hyobags speaks for itself dosen't it? If a 20 year old bike can even barley compare then surley it goes towards saying either the 20 year old bike was exceptionally well designed and built...or the hyobag is a cheaply built item like wharehouse merchandise...throw away items.....which imo is wot it is...a great beginers bike...but not something youd hang onto after you'd learned the basic's and ridden something else.

I've ridden the Hyosung GT650R and it was an absolute piece of shit. I would NEVER buy one.....not in a million years. You're better off walking mate.

I remmember looking inside the gas tank of one that wasnt even a year old and there was rust all inside the tank. Not only that but the "digital gage" is so bad its bordering on the criminal. I'd expect greater quality coming out of Burma then what I found on that bike. The instruments are difficult to see in bright sunlight, the bike puts out an ungoldy amount of heat that practically roasts your right foot, the gearbox is about as smooth as an acne ridden teenagers face, the brakes feel like they've been made out of eraser tips, and even the "hyosung" labels start to come off before the bikes leave the showroom.

I mean...everywhere you look you see cost cutting and cheapness. Sorry but I refuse to ride anything I think might come unglued on me in a corner or under heavy braking. Seriously, if I owned a Hyosung I'd always have this nagging feeling something major was about to fall off.....and it would destroy the riding experience.

There just really isnt a point to buying a Hyosung. They arnt cheap enought to warrant the shit build quality, shit resale value, difficulty in getting parts, crap customer service, and the fact that you're gonna have to explain to everyone why in the hell your riding some Korean piece of junk when you could have had a second hand SV650 or CBR for equal money.

Its just not worth it. If you have the cash for a GT650R then surely you could save another 6 months and front up for the real deal........just be patient.

LOL everyone bagging hyobags. I'll join in. I crashed it a couple of times, once cos the rear shock is sloppy as hell so the stand bracket digs into the road around tight corners and once cos there was this pot hole and I rode directly into it and went off the road and fell off like a retard.

But yea it's still shit loads of fun to ride even though it's as gutless as all hell. I thrash the utter crap out of it (have to to get anywhere) and have done for 33K so far. It's cheap, reliable and works perfectly for "learning" on. I don't regret buying it at all... yet.

My suspension has been fantastic, never had any problems with it. Never had any issues bottoming it out either. Maybe you need to put your biases aside, before writing off the most popular selling bike in the country.

They are popular for a reason, and the looks are only a part of that.

Maybe you shoud ride some Race inspired 250 bikes (CBR's, ZXR's ect) and then you will we see why people are being biased.

And for 7k you can buy my NSR, now thats a real race bike for the road and its 15 years old.

Also found som interesting info about hyosung.

In korea they were a joint venture with suzuki, and were known as Suzuki Hyosung (prounounced Huu-sung) up until 2002 when they parted and became independant. also the korean company daishin is in partnership with honda and use all honda componants.

I rode 15 bikes when I was looking to buy, only 1 suited my needs/wants.
