We are all entitled to our opinion. Sometimes I don't agree, sometimes they don't agree so HTFU !!

Mate, I don't have a problem with your opinion, just would have helped if you got on the same wavelength as the rest of the thread. But it's sorted, and we've all moved on.

Grub, on the other hand, got the gist of the thread......

yep, sadly that pretty much sums up KB on occasion.

Understand your issue (to a point) but the title did specify Etiquette, not legality, there is a big difference.

I mean, no one ever got arrested (IE law) for standing at the wrong urinal but everyone knows etiquette dictates leaving a one urinal gap where possible....

Does anyone know (for a fact) if lane splitting is legal... Now my bike is registered the buggers can track me down and ticket me for passing them while lane splitting (if it is illegal)?
I can give you a brief run down. Pictures would help, but its late, and I'm nackered.

Ok so, lane splitting to the cops is undertaking, which is illegal. Undertaking is when you pass a car on there left side in there own lane. Illegal. If you pass a car on the right, in there own lane, its overtaking. You can undertake only when traffic is at a stand still, such as a red light.

Well thats my understanding of it form when it was explained to me by a cop on a bike (I hate cops on bikes, way harder to get away from) who pulled me over.

As far as I can work out, that's spot on.

I'll mention here that undertaking is perfectly legal -- provided you're either in a different lane (which we're not, we're in the same lane as the person we're undertaking), or they've got their indicator on, turning right into a side street or whatever; or if they're stationary.

    Thanks Guys.

I guess I'd be within the law when accidentally undertaking. If it was because a car that I was legally overtaking, drifted across to the right side of the lane as I was overtaking them, causing me to drift to the left side of the right hand lane. Your Honour.
