    KLX250, really worth it?

    Dear tards,

My VTR250 just got killed last week by a cage (insurance reported getting a 19k quote for repairs. )

I've tried my brother's DRZ and it felt really good, great riding position, good clearance, much more flickable, lighter...

Above all felt like an motorcycle even tho the sit is a bloody pain in the arse! (loved my VTR250 to bits but i felt like sitting on a mopped sometimes, too short. same with my ex GSF250)

I'm looking at my options now, could invest on an semi-new 250cc KLX for a reasonable price... been reading some posts on thumper and advriding, bike have toons of mods and guides and etc...

Question is, in your opinion, is it ever worth paying something around 6-7k on a 250cc bike, being it a Dual-Sportish? I'm not considering bigger bikes for now since i'm a restricted proper noob, don't want or need the extra power. Not now that is.

Opinions, advices and pointers would be highly appreciated!

The trail bikes seem dear for their engine size - I paid over $9,000 when I bought my XR250L for example let alone I paid $12,000 for my WR250F, but if you want to get into a bit of dirt riding then they are worth it just for those kicks. On the road they are generally a bit slower top speed than a similar sized road bike but that is a small price to pay if dirt is what you want.

If you don't want to do dirt, don't buy one, otherwise the 6-7k you are talking about is a small price to pay for the fun.
    Cheers

    Merv
