    Another one down.

Just got news this afternoon,a mate and fellow member of the Rusty Nuts MC
has been taken off his bike today.
He was travelling at 100kms on the main highway at Kimbolton when a drunk driver pulled onto the highway without looking first.
Luckly he was wearing all the good gear so he's OK,just the usual bruises ect ect ect.
    But one totaly destroyed GSX400.
    Bloody drunks huh

Glad to hear no injuries etc. I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that we should bring back the stocks. A few wheelies on these drunk drivers faces might just make these fuckers look before proceeding.

That sux Jack, sorry to hear it.

It's like a hidden minefield out on our roads sometimes, you never know when you're gonna come face to face with a drunk driver! I hope they throw the book at the drunkard.

Thanks for the good wishes, will pass em' on.
I just got off the phone talking to him about getting his bike home an he's very sore but gonn'a live.
Apparantly he hit the ute at the full 100kms,this spun the ute right off the road an left it stuck in a ditch while his bike did summersults down the road.
The front end has been completely removed an the front tyre is in two halves.
This was/is John Rusty(check our web site under Rusty people)a very good rider with a heap of miles under his belt an a fairly sensible type as well.
    Bloody drunks huh!!!!

Hi guys, John is at this moment sitting in our lounge relaxing! He hit a car, not a ute (looks like an old Honda Accord or similar - if I had a Bluetooth connection he'd be able to post the photos to show you!), and was VERY lucky not to suffer serious injuries. Badly bruised hands and knees, and one very sorry looking bike. He was doing a rerun of last year's GC with my husband (who had to pull out last year due to bike trouble), so Andy brought him home on the back of his bike then continued on. (He's on track to finish about 3am as they started at 6am - he rang from Rotorua at about 8pm.) I took John to the emergency doctor who was worried about his hand and sent us to PN Hospital for x-rays. Spent three hours there and thankfully he's fine, nothing broken. He's a bit sore, but I've just fed and watered him and he'll no doubt feel a bit better after a good night's sleep.

Andy saw the accident in his mirrors and boy, did I get a fright when he rang me at 8.30am! I was thinking "fuck, what's happened, they shouldn't be stopping for lunch for hours!" Apparently one of the guys in the car got out waving his beer bottle, so the police at least know what was going on. The cop who attended sounded like she was NOT impressed with the drunks - she wasn't the only one! 8.20am and drunk? Arseholes.

We'll go up and pick his bike up from Feilding tomorrow, then a mate is taking it back to Morrinsville for him on Tuesday, so he may be hanging around our place until then!

Yuck. Brings back a few bad memories.

My first bad motorcycle accident was trying to avoid drunks in a car who came the wrong way down a one-way street in the dark with no lights on.

Glad to hear your mate John will be okay. Sounds like his many years of experience really helped him out there. If it was a young fella he might not have been so lucky.

    Please send our best wishes.

    Simon, Gini and family.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Yes, I told him to buy a Lotto ticket! They were probably still drunk from the night before and had a liquid breakfast...
