Thanks guys for the brilliant feedback. Yes it all depends who you speak to on the day alright. I rang one of the insurance companies you guys use. Got a quote, I wasn't sure about something. So I rings back and gets a different sales rep and he quoted me $250.00 cheaper the the first rep I spoke to. I haven't done anything as yet. I still have until the end of the month to decide. I will let you all know who I went with in due course.
    Cheers all

We changed all our policies (four MV, house, contents) from State (after being with them for ~30 years) to AMI. However, my latest bike insurance invoice just came in, and it was over $700, so I'm going to shop around. I don't think it's made it any cheaper having all our policies with AMI - I just got pissed off with some of State's terms and didn't think they showed any evidence of either valuing our long-term custom or the fact we had so many policies with them.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    State

    Hi Vifferman
I had a bad, bad, experience when I was in Business with State. I had a work van flogged one night. The thieves broke into the compound smashed all the lights on three vans and flogged the newest of the fleet.

Used it to rob a supermarket and then took it out to the country and burned it beyond recognition.

I made a claim with State whom my broker did the deal with, and I had no claim at all for five years with the bastards.

To cut a very long story short. I got treated like a criminal by there loss adjuster. I had to go to the Insurance ombudsman to get them involved. Finally I got paid out.

It took me 13 months to get paid out. So as you can gather I took all my business elsewhere.

I am with SIS with my home and contents. I no longer have my business work from home nowadays.

But SIS don't do bike insurance. I have my bike insured again with Star I negotiated a new cover with then for my 2007 Triumph Tiger I have got it covered for 17k and the premium came to $680 with a 500 excess.

Before it was $875 Star are a good company. In 2002 I dropped a near new bike on the Paras the assessor wrote it of. And Star had me paid out in Ten days in full, plus the price of my nominated after market parts.

I am a great believer in an insurance company is only as good as it's claims department. And Star has proven that they are to me.

Good luck with AMI. The bikes insurance sounds expensive. Give Phil Newell a ring at STAR and tell him Keith from Wanganui told you to ring. Don't talk to anyone else only Phil he's the Manager.
    cheers buddy
