    Done deal undone...

After saying on another thread that I had brought another KLX250 it appears I won't.

Let me take you back to last Thursday: Mrs Kiwizrx talked to a bike dealer about an unregistered KLX250 they had on the shop floor with no price on it.

The story she got was that it was:
$5000, will register, WOF, and put on dual purpose tyres.
They had all the road parts and they had ordered a new headlight to replace the broken one. They'll fit everything.
It was one owner from new. (Rego currently on hold)

I picked it up Saturday, and took it to a friend of mine who looked at it and said 'I know that bike. It's a minter. Here's the old owners number - call him' which I did.

From here it goes pear shaped.
Owners: Kiwi Rider had it, then a bike shop, then private, then bike shop, THEN the guy I'm talking too! (Just counting to see if that is ONE owner... No, not unless I miscounted. Minimum two, max five).
    Also never registered. Ever.
Last owner brought a new light for it and the shop has it.

Took it back today to say yeah I'll take it only to find the new deal. *I* get it road worthy, buy the tyres, bring it back and they'll rego and WOF.

I'm not happy. What would you guys do?

    Sideways.

    And smile sweetly.

There's another one out there for you somewhere.

    Patience grasshopper.

Too late! I see one in Auckland (dealer) and one in Hamilton (dealer) - both on bikepoint. I'll look at trademe now...

I'm pissed at them - they still owe me the RIGHT part for the airbox on the last bike I brought from them.

    Lesson learnt.

    I'll tell tomorrow...

I'm waiting to see what they do. I'm expecting nothing, but you never know. Don't want to upset them BEFORE they make their next move.

I'm pissed because we sold one of our bikes (Mrs Kiwizrx's) to buy this one, and they know it. It's not like we're not serious about buying it...

I've got to go with the concensus, they better be coming back to you with a better deal than they first offered (hell of a lot of difference between 1 owner and 5) or tell them to shove it and shop elsewhere.

Tell them to take it an shove it where the sun dont shine
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Mention the 'Fair Trading Act' and the 'Commerce Commission' in the same sentence and see what happens.

Arrow As the bike dealer has failed

to comply with their end of the deal and also failed to comply with the fair trading act, by at the very least not disclosing the truth about the said bike, then you ae within your rights to return the bike to the dealer for a FULL refund. Should they fail to comply then go to a public law office for advice. Its amazing how quick people will jump when they know that the weight of the law is about to come down on them HARD. Hope this helps and please inform us of the outcome and be carefull of disclosing the bike shop's name as that will be slander.

To be clear - no money had changed hands.

I have now discussed everything with said shop and we have reached an agreement. I am purchasing the bike at the price we had agreed to, and have negotiated the rest (give and take). I'm happier - but not happy, happy.

They have done an OK deal but went about the wrong way.

I have the bike and the box that has "all the parts to make it road legal".

    Except it doesn't.

And said bike shop is getting me to find out the part numbers so they can order the missing (cheap) parts. They will (and have) supplied the missing bolts with some out of a packet. Not the right style of bolt to match the rest as Kawasaki have a fancy headed bolts.

But guess what grates the most? I'm finding out the part numbers and THEY are the Kawaski dealer...

Seemed like such a good deal to start with

That's it, moaning over. Everyone enjoy the ride.
