Don't think it needs to be 45 degrees, just needs to be visible frm the rear.

Not up to WOF standard did go, but it is back again... Don't need too many qualifications for worn tyres, broken lights, missing wheel nuts, most are plainly obvious problems...

Could be right about the daytime thing... why have reflectors in the daytime?

If it gets to court, point out this quote to the judge. He is being a cock.

Bollocks. Doesn't have to decide anything. Can be stopped for a licence check, WOF check, alcohol check just to name a few.

The reflector issue is the supposed "not up to WOF standard" issue... He had a current WOF, now has a new one because of the ticket, and nothing changed, which means it was up to WOF standard after all in the first place???

Can't see it getting there either from the photos supplied, it is clearly visible. Careful about baiting him though, he isn't the only cop out there patrolling... It may only encourage him to go harder with an anti bike sentiment....

    Regs for motorcycles.
They used to have minimum dimensions for the reflector, but they don't state those now, just an effectiveness test (visible from 100m)
My VFR just had a piece of reflective tape on the fairing under the tail light.

From my experience, the Judiciary love "visual" evidence, so if you have photos and neat dimensioned drawings to support your case, your already half way there. The pics from your trip up north are perfect for this.

any vehicle can pass a W.O.F without a numberplate, all it needs it the light to be working where the plate is to be mounted, and they write the Chassis number on the W.O.F. sticker as means of Identification.
You need a W.O.F on a vehicle before you can Register it.
So if it is brand new, ..........
    Think about it.
The plate is only the Idetification that is able to be read by the public and enforcement agencies to presonify the car it is attached to.
Location od said plates is open to interpretation.(sp?)

No biggie - but then I'm into bikes - here's what one could do if they were so inclined when taking court photos.

Remount the plate a bit higher in the same position with less of an angle - there appears to be plenty of room higher up. It will be 'more visible' and should look just as good. Then take ones photos for court..........

Actually get someone to follow in a car and do a video - that's from eye height in a real world situation. Just don't pop any monos, lane split etc when being on video for court.

I'm surprised he was not more interested in your rear turn signals, are those e-marked?

Re reflectors - yep required - if you do not want to mount them on the undertail get two small ones and mount on the rear of each rear foot peg. with a little care and time you could recess them into the rubbers for a tidy look.

Only one problem with this call... didn't the cop take a photo at the time? Any subsequent alterations will be noticable.

I didn't know they let the blind into the police force. I know NZpolice is a equal opportunity employer and all, but sheesh!

You have my support. Got a warning for a similar placement on my 05 636. Maybe you could share the outcome of the case and any arguments you used?

BTW, did you enjoy lunch today?

The issue i think the cops have with your plate is that there is stuff on it.
This is illegal and you should remove it.
6's can look like 8's etc.
Just clean the plate up and they wont have a case as the actual mounting of the plate is fine.

I can see it, just not clearly, law states it must be clearly visable from the rear, tucking it under like that is just being sneaky, hes put it there so he wouldn't get pinger as easily, it's the cops job to catch people like this, try and be sneaky.... your gunna end up with a fine.

    It's how it is.

Actually the problem he had was where it was mounted...never had any issues with 'stuff on it' as you put it. He said the plate was not 'easily distinguishable' where it is mounted - which it clearly is!

Well, it's as clear as a big fucking pair of Elephants balls. Stop shooting jism into your eyes when you tug, and you'll also be able to see it clearly. Sheesh...
