Police have to get ALL evidence to defendant at least a week before hearing. At this point the Police may actually look at what's going on and drop the case.
If not you build your defence on material supplied - done reasonably and you will probably win.
Ask for costs, I doubt you will get any.
Result, the OP has to spend considerable time and effort to defend a $200 ticket.
The cheapest and easiest thing to do is pay the ticket - on the other hand you can have some immense fun and try to get the police into court - just realise this will take up a lot of time and may cost more than $200 - it depnds how you value your time.
Remember that time is your best friend - before the court hearing the police have to prepare the officers statement - his memory won't be that good in perhaps a year's time. Unless you have already written in, don't until a couple of days before the expiry of the Reminder Notice - and write down your version of events and keep it safe - it could be very useful.
