When you have your day in Court suggest you stick to point...no finger pointing a cop...all you have to do is show it was readable...nothing less.

So I wouldn't need a plate on my vehicle to get a WOF?

Oh I'll play the game don't you worry Gboy...This thread is more for other bikers to see that this prick is on a power trip and WE all need to stand up against this sort of cop behavior...or we may as well sell our bikes now and throw our hands up saying "you win....speed kills." Also on the odd chance that Ginger is reading this thread I want him to know that he has made an enemy that has a spine and will make it my goal to show him for what he truly is...a BAD COP not doing his job in the right spirit.

    Nope...its not a safety concern...its a licensing issue, not a WOF issue.

WTF!! The whole number plate is one giant reflector. I'll bet that law hasn't been updated since the switch to black on white plates. Good luck with your appeal bro

Hey, was the cop a middle aged faggot with a pornstache driving a Honda Accord mufti? I've had mates who have been ticketed by this particular fuckwit - he's got a thing for bikers, maybe his wife left him for one - anyhow, he's well known as petty and full of shit - my friend Lance had his ticket squashed by fuckwit's boss on appeal...

He may run into issues in court if it's raised that the likes of trucks, speed camera's, opposing traffic, etc wouldn't be able to 'easily distinguish' the plate, therefore illegal.

Personally, I'd just do a setup the same as 98TLS bike, nice, clean setup, and unquestionably 100% legal.

Poor bugger had just overtaken me too and took off down the big straight...he was cruising with me the entire time before that too. It was the first ride he had been on in 3 months!!!
You have a clear-cut case to defend. As Marty posted - "Can the plate be seen clearly from the rear" = yes.
You have lots of photo's, so have them ready for a court hearing.
Simply wasting the ginger cunt's time by having to trot off to court again, is good.
Quite surprised that there hasn't been the pleasant sound of gunfire from 16 yet... It will happen sooner or later, somewhere in NZ.

The requirement for a reflector stems from the simple fact that your plate can fall off. Several recent examples of this confirm this can happen.
Not having a reflector is a fairly petty thing, but getting run up the arse at night, could be worse.

    See above.

The police complaint's authority is a crock of shit simply designed to support the police.

Not sure if it's specifically a WOF issue or not, but plates are legal only if they are the genuine thing made by the authorised maker.

People do seem to get away with others (e.g. sport cars with home-made stuff on front) but that doesn't mean it's legal.

The reflector thing is pretty clear too. Gotta have one. Doubt that fine can be argued (except in terms of "I fixed it now".)

Number plate mounting seems a bit badly defined. e.g. what exactly do they mean by "upright"? Just that it can't be upside down? Or that it must be 90 degrees from horizontal? Kiwifruits' folk got away with a plate mounted short-side down.

My bike still has the stock mount for the plate, with the plate attached as by the bike shop that sold it to me. The way THEY mounted the licence obscures my "E" and makes it look like an "F". Maybe I could get a fine for that?

Biggles - what did you do to light the plate?
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
