Just had a thought. Get someone to take a photo of you on the bike. With your weight on the suspension maybe the rear hugger DOES obscure the plate.....just a thought.

In space, no one can smell your fart.
The questions I'd be asking as Mr cop is
1) where is the lighting for this number plate?
2) where is the red reflector required by law?
3) is the plate clearly visable/readable from my drivers seat or a speed camera ?
--Im not having a go at ya here biggles --Im just preparing ya for the likely questions
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
1) Lighting is there in the form of LED's that light it up supper bright at night.
2) No reflector I'm sorry but that can and has been remedied
3) Clear at day...no problems here...look at these fifty photos taken from every angle possible...the worst angle is where the Ohlins adjuster is in the way however you can still read what the plate is.
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
Try again...have a look at the top of the # plate in this pic....see the stainless steel piece arm coming over the plate...there are LED's in that facing the plate....if you can't see it maybe you should go sign up to become a traffic cop...LOL (just kidding bud)![]()
Biggles mate, I have been through courts and they are generally a waste of time and money. This is a point of principal and the cop must have been looking for for a fight (or he knows something about the law he has not told you).
To prepare your case, why don't you have a photo taken of you on a ladder at speed camera height, taking a photo of your bike. This will prove the point over visibility and complying with the law. Also, take photos from 45 degree angles at road level to show that any cop will be able to read the plate.
I went to court a few years back over an arguament regarding right of way following a collision. I was in a court with 45 photos and black marker pens to demonstrate my case. The judge smiled and asked the otherside if they had any photos in response to my 'Gotcha'? He then dismissed the case :-)
Just be prepared, 'cos judges like a cut & dry arguament. Do also however check that you are legally within your rights to mount the plate so far forward. The fact that the cop says that he could not see the plate, when clearly he can looks like you have a good case.
Good luck to you.
