    what 2 stroke for 3k?

got a mate who rides a quad but he wants a 2 wheeler as well so he can come on trail rides with us and not get hung up in some bogs and stuff like that.
he wants a 250 2 stroke EG yz, cr, kx, rm
what sort of bike can he pick up for 3 k?
i know a few similar threads have been posted and they usually all say kdx,
    he doesn't want a kdx.
and what should he look for in bikes of this age.
    cheers,
    Karl

From my exerience with 2-stroke MX bikes if your looking at going through bogs your probably better with the 4 stroke. Hit powerband on a 2 stroker in a bog and you can pretty much leave the bike there sitting on the swingarm...
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

That's easy, KDX. So he's a homo & doesn't want one, well proved if he has a quad. Tell him to be a man & sell the stupid thing & release some money to buy a decent bike. GasGas or KTM enduro would fit the bill.

If he wants to buy a 250MX bike for trail riding then just look around for anything in decent condition but be expecting to spend some money on it at some stage, they are competition machines & once not being raced competitively people stop doing the simple maintenance that keeps them reliable. Also a 250 MX bike is a handful in the tight, they will land a nob on his ear pretty quickly. But of course he will be such a man that he wants a 250 rather than that little old 200kdx.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

he is a good rider on two wheels, i prob should've said he is not a novice,
he has always had a two wheeler till last year.
he wants to fang about on his track he has too.
so it not just for trail riding.

    HI Soundbeltfarm,

I just bought an 03 Ktm 200 exc and am thinking of selling my 01 CR250 so I can upgrade to a 07 Ktm 200. I have spent alot of time and money setting up the CR for a cross between MX and X-Country. It has a Fly wheel weight, pro circut pipe, new rear spring for a 95kg rider, Danger has revalved and re sealed the front forks, I have done the engine and all linkages and swing arm bearings, gripper seat etc etc. 1 immac original bike, even has the original plastics, stickers, CR manual and climer manual.

Tractors from low really well, pulls evenly through the range, but is still quick as! Jet it a bit leaner and it'll be even quicker.

    PM me if your interested.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '
