    Kenda 'millville' rear tyre ?

Anyone using this out there ? I usually run mich s-12's but needed a new rear tyre asap because I had a load of riding lined up this weekend and liked the look and price of the kenda so got it fitted on thursday last ( $125 job done) - anyway four solid days of rain and work commitments meant the klx is still sitting in the garage with new rubber and Renthal kevlar grips ( anyone rate these ? - $38 !!!) and I ain't gonna get a chance to ride until March 3rd earliest - it looks the biz - any feedback ?
    cheers

i run the Renthal kevlar grips, they are worth the money, they are dear, but the last really well and are easy on the hands,

never tried the millville rear tyres, i doubt they will be as good as an S12, with tyres, it is def a case of you get what you pay for,

couldn't agree more scott, but I thought what the hell i'll give it a go -i,ve got a mate who uses 'crossengo' tyres and swears by them - (and sometimes at them !) but his philosophy is buy cheap and replace often- I find the s-12's chunk quite badly on rocky stuff but the one i've just replaced was basically a carcass and it still coped with maddix park enduro loops last tuesday - hope i don't regret the millville - (it wouldn't look out of a place on a tractor ) - and it raises the seat by about 10mm - but hey ho - lets go.

Yeah I too have found the S12's chunk badly but never tried the millville. Let us know how it goes. Nothing worse than buying a tire that is junk after one ride eh? Done that plenty of times.

Might have to try those grips too since Scott recomends them. Last lot of grips I bought dissolved when I put petrol in them to fit!

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

Danger - the renthal kevlars were an absolute breeze to fit - didn't need any petrol or even glue, they are so soft and malleable that brute strength and a bit if twisty technique got them on sweet and they were stuck to the bars -(moose enduro)- like sp***k to a bedsheet, i lockwired them just to be on safe side but to be honest i think you could almost get away without that (especially on the plastic throttle body) and as scott mentions above they feel real nice and hopefully will last the distance - shame about the anemic yellow colour tho' - not sure it really goes with my nice green 'n' black colour scheme !

I tag my grips with spray paint for fitting as well.

Milville. Well I tried them and ended up going back to S 12.
From memory I think you can have them fitted soft(like a freaking tractor) or reverse for medium.

Yeah usually I do use paint but for some reason (I think I read it somewhere) I tried petrol last time. Or it might have be meths or brakeclean, I cant remember but the grips dissolved. Even grip glue has let me down at times.

when I took the wheel in they looked at the state of the mich and said "I don't think there's any point in using the soft side for you" - so i've got mine on the intermediate side, but will of course turn it round once i've shagged it - i've got scottish roots y'know.

As for petrol on the grips, if you read the back of the packaging on the renth kev's it sez you might want to use a light coating to help you get them on !!! - couldn't believe it really - ANY kind of solvent and ANY kind of plastic/rubber will not get on at all - unless your making model aeroplanes!

grip glue is a brilliant waste of $5 IMHO - i would rather spend it on a handle of steiny. it seems ok for a couple of hours then it will (always) start to fail (any type of solvent type glue relies on actually harming the rubber to form a bond - therefore making the join weaker in the long run) then of course you come to change grips and you have to spend ages with more horrible solvent cleaning off the residue it's left behind at the same time thinking 'why is this so bloody hard to remove yet why were my grips slipping ?' - on the subject i've been meaning to buy a pair of fencers wire twist pliers for some time - anyone know the best deal?

I had a millville on a KDX a couple of years and it worked pretty well in most conditions, it did chunk a little on the real hard stuff but overall it wasn't a bad tyre.
