It's getting hard to avoid the dark and the rain on the way home.
And the nutters are coming out.

Last night I was sooo bl00dy close to being run off the road by a plonker trying to undertake me when I was overtaking another car at 105kmph, in the dark and rain and coming in to a left hand bend... He was about 1' from me when my rear started to slide out on the RHS white line. I nearly sh@ myself.

I got a little angry (I love to get home and see my daughter). so I tried to have a nice word with him when he stopped at the roundabout. But he just tried to drive sideways in to me (which resulted in his wing mirror falling off).

Yes he saw me, my lights were working and I was wearing reflective vest.

But hey, it happened last year countless times and I uess it will happen next year too.

I made a mental note not to get too pissed off and deal with the next one like an adult, not a spoilt child.

Hmmm... guess he was a little smaller than the bus on friday, but was going a tad faster... still the same outcome Biker 2 others 0 :-)

His mirror was lost when I was avoiding his advances, my handle bar weight (the same one that put the lines down the bus) accidently hit his mirror. I was restrained enough to not put the boot in.

I ride the Hutt mway every weekday, and there are plenty of people out there who are trying pretty hard to take out the bikes. Gotta admit that I do myself no favours with lanesplitting and all, but I woulda thought at least using an indicator BEFORE changing lanes (not during or after) would be a good starting point.

In saying that, though, in the 15 months I've been doing that I've only used the boot twice - and both to people who didn't understand what the stalk on the side of the steering column does.

Ive seen an increase in the cager crazies eg just in the 15mins to work this morning I saw a cage go straight through a roundabout from the left lane (thats marked to go left only) causing many a toot

Im really thinking about changing my route so that it doesnt go past a school (kids opening car doors) but there is no alternate route that gets me there in good time.

If you are lane splitting then there is usually a line you draw speed / visibility amount of rain etc. You are also the most at risk, if you decide to lanesplit then it is your neck. Predicting the road ahead is a full time occupation you should be 100% ready to use any control instantly. Often I am breaking over a second before the indicator comes on, the indicators are rarely the best indication of a car's intention to turn.

I think both are possibly exceedingly dangerous.
