So where on your list of offences does the DIC fit if you weren't drunk??

I stand corrected for my cheap crack.
Not that they need them around there - unless they direct the patrol cars? Because in Dec last year I saw many many speeding arests - almost every car I saw speeding on the SH1 was caught. It was quite sobering.

And as for Jade, I thought the DIC etc related to earlier offences (as my comments indicated), so it would seem a very light approach if this was true. Anyhoo, moving on ...

Yeah !!!! Shuts up now !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Sometimes there are gray areas when people break the law, or when the police make a mistake. This does not apply to Jade since he was going 170 kph in a 100 kph zone and he admits it. So lets say he gets a very clever lawyer who finds a technicality that can let Jade get off free. Would you still say "Why not try?"

Now I have to (we, all of us KB'ers have to) put myself in Jades shoes, with the possibility of a clever lawyer. Would I try to wriggle out with no penalty? Sitting here now, I don't think so because I was in a similar place 15 years ago and did not do so.

Back then I had a clever lawyer friend who said the right words to the policeman who ticketed me, telling him not to show up to court which would nullify the charge against me (this was overseas). As I waited for the court date, I did not feel right about it, remembering all the times that my friends and I disliked lawyers for doing tricky crap like this. So I fronted up to the judge before the court case and paid the fine, telling him that I did not want to waste the court's time. Done and over with, it felt good then as it does now. While I was a cage driver back then and was not about to lose my license, it is still a similar case.

What is right is right. Whats wrong is wrong. Sometimes life situations are very clear.
170 kph on or just off the AKL Harbour Bridge is wrong.
Jade admits it and needs to face the consequences as doc says.

Look, I'm old enough to be most KB'ers father. I've done my share of stupid things when I was younger, including 160+ kph on my Triumph on a busy motorway, and I cringe when I think how I could have been killed or injured or caused this to others. When I read things like this: "...im almost 100% sure I would go flying over the habour bridge with the taps wide open as well at night. It's just the normal thing young guys do haha.", I do not find it funny. With a beer in my hand while talking to my mates, I sometimes may joke about going "with the taps wide open" - when the context is different and everyone knows I am just bullshitting - but I've seen too many accidents in my life and have too many injured or dead friends and acquaintances to take idiotic riding/driving lightly.

Trying to wriggle out of the consequences of doing wrong overlooks the law of karma.
Yes, you may get off and not pay a fine and lose your license, but eventually you have to pay the karmic price.
If you don't learn the first time, or the second, it just keeps getting worse.
    Farts in your direction !!

Look guys, its over, Ive got a whopping big fine to pay which I wholeheartedly deserve
Im not gonna say Ill never break the speed limit again because that wont happen, hell I broke it several times today, hitting 200 on an empty on ramp is a pretty regular thing for me, like daily
I can tell you though that I am constantly working on my self control, to not twist that throttle
I spend a shitload of time on the road, mostly solo and I reckon I can read the road pretty well - I havent hit any cars... recently. you can safely break the speedlimit, but the speed limit is the law and I want to be law abiding, and I definately dont want to be giving money to the government which I have been doing weekly for several years now
Ive learnt that road riding is about judgement and risk assesment, ive got that part down and I reckon I can stay safe,
just gotta harness self control now
Im well aware that if I had'a stuck to the speed limit, id be 1000 bucks richer
As for people who think that what I did was dangerous, I dont. and neither did the cop. I would do that any day of the week rather that go out with my mates scratching on weekends, but thats just me
And to add to this, pretty much all my riding for the last month has been 2 up, she likes it when I go fast and she likes it when I do wheelies, but Im working on NOT doing either of these things, im slowing down and everytime we get off the bike I tell her that we are going to go slower, I am NOT going to be someone who crashed with a pillion
anyways, Close this thread, nuff said

To sum up, I want to be enjoying riding for alotta years to come, not enjoying it alot, briefly
Confident the aprilia rsv4, IS the one

You freakin' sinner! Now we're all gonna die.
You're right about judgement; I made the call to crank the V8 Berlina up to 170 the other day BUT! Deserted road, no intersections, straight as a dye (diddly eye dye, fuckin' hippies) and no dramas. The car is up t way more, as witnessed in the Taranaki a wee while back, but you make the call to go that fast. My only real bitch in life is when you get plucked for MINOR transgressions like rolling off a hill and hitting 111, or overtaking as quickly and safely as possible (as instructed by the our Road Code) with NO discrection exercised by the (now so-labelled) revenue collectors.

    Big speed: take the consequences.
    Little speed: wag the finger.

Ya must meet all the wrong type of cops eh?

My discretions exceed my tickets by about 5 (or more) to 1.

A shame the bosses don't count discretions eh - my 'contact rate' would be waaay up!!
