Why are us bikies/bikers so one eyed?

In a kinda laid back mellow mood and I just can't work this one out.
Why have the majority of motorcycle riders totally one eyed about their brand of bike.
The recent garbage posting by Honda got me thinking about it.
Harley riders looking down their noses at jap crap riders.
Sport bike riders thinking cruisers are crap
Euro riders not even looking at jap bikes.
honda riders thinking susuki's are shite .
hown heck did this develop?

Maybee we should all swap bikes for a couple of days
i want first dibbs on Paul In NZ's guzzie -swap for my xj lol

Honda's are the way to go (my opinion). But I ride a suzuki. I dont like or work on Harleys cos of the atitude of their owners. Plus I dont have any imperial spanners to work on them.

Good question. I can remember telling one of my friends that I was going to buy a Guzzi and the first thing he did was call it a spagghetti Harley. This from someone who had been a lifelong friend. No congrats or anything along those lines. Just slagging. Tend to think this has come from the Harley crowd and filtered down through other brands and rides. Mind you there are times on this board when I am as guilty as the next man on this. Might make one of my New Year reso's. No more slagging bikes: unless they start it.

I like the old saying it's not what you ride it's 'that' you ride. Hell I'd ride with a pushbike if they could keep up.

When I was in the Cali. a few years back I noticed that some of the biker drinking holes had parking reserved for Harleys, other brands had to go out the back. Might have something to do why I ride Guzzi.

I lust over Italian bikes, but I'm riding a Jap at the moment. I've also got a thing for classic bikes, so ideally if I had a bit of money to put a few bikes in my garage I'd have:
Ducati Monster (which is what I'm hoping to buy next)
MV Agusta Brutale 750 :love2:
Triumph Bonneville (modern)
Norton Commando (classic)
And some sort of Cruiser - probably Japanese

I don't agree with you frosty. I started out on trail bikes (XL's and DT's) because that was the most practical bikes - gravel roads and mud and rivers ... A sports bike would have sucked big time for that. Then coming to uni in palmerston north I moved to a sports bike because it was more practical for the sorts of roads I needed to ride. Not too long a go I had a ride on Trumpy Thunderbird sport and was quite sceptical before riding it but after having a ride on it I was very impressed. I would love to own one - one day maybe.

For me my bikes suit my needs (Roads I ride, finances etc). I have moved from Honda's and Yamahas to a Suzuki cause that's what was available when I was looking for a bike. Maybe at some later date I'll move on to something else again.

but imho generalisations are where the humour is at! so racism of bikes is all good by me because at the end of the day its all in jest!

One thing i will say is that in terms of feel, Honda gearbox/clutchs are my personal preference over anything, the gears snick in so silently and the blutches always have a nice broad grippy feel. But other then that of course they are all piles of crap that break down every 5 seconds! :@

I've got your attitude dhunt --I couldn't give a shit what it is someone rides -but I've just noticed recently more brand racism than there used to be

We have to realise too that we are a very small minority of road users and should be looking for ways to draw strength from all who ride two wheels. I give not a fuck whether others ride Harleys, sports bikes or scooters. As long as it's got two wheels it's OK with me and will be cheerily waved at!!

I chose a kwaka for my first bike coz my family used to own the bike shop near wellington motorcycles before they dumped a hotel or sumthing on top of it. the only reason i would choose not to get a suzuki is becoz my family would give me crap coz they are 'the enemy' no biggie tho, some suzukis look better than some of the new stuff coming out.

Personally, I have seen good,bad, and crap examples of all the brands. Also, it would seem that in thier respective histories, all bike manufacturers have produced lemons, and they've all had rippers as well. I'm not fussed as to what brand is what, as long is it is in good nick and goes well

I'd rather keep on riding what I've got then ride some one elses bike. We are all different and this is displayed clearly in what sort of bike we choose to ride. There is nothing wrong with it, except when people react poorly to peoples' opinions if they differ from their own. Yes I like Honda motorcycles, nothing wrong with that, but I do respect the fact that others prefer different rides to myself. I am a true believer that it does not matter one iota what you ride, as long as your riding. I did expect a response like I recieved to my own personal views and have found it amusing how wound up other have become over them. This does not make any of us wrong at all, but merely human.
