althou they might bitch and moan like little girls at least they got off their arses and did the trips........
with a shit load of backup,..
Harley Davidson: The most efficient way to convert gasoline into noise without the side effects of horsepower.
'Fast' Harleys are only fast compared to stock Harleys.
I think they are decent guys, and if Ewan's got the cash and profile to do something he wants to do - why not? Better than making another Star Wars film.
Having said that on a trip with him at some stage I would knock him over, having been brooding about the Phantom Menance. Never forget - never forgive!
Motorcycle songlist:
Best blast soundtrack:Born to be wild (Steppenwolf)
Best sunny ride: Runnin' down a dream (Tom Petty)
Don't want to hear ...: Slip, slidin' away, Caught by the Fuzz or Bam Thwok!(Paul Simon/Supergrass/The Pixies)
Yep, this guy is amazing, having purpose built/modded a bike himself, and set off with no protection except his own instinct. Makes me laugh, looking at his and Nick Sanders' round the world R1's when people whine about "uncomfortable sportsbikes".
Charlie and Ewan? Nup, can't stand 'em. A couple of pampered wanna-be adventurers showing a carefully tailored view of their "hardship" as a convoy of support staff follow in their wake. Sooooo contrived. It's supposed to be a documentary and documentary's, in my opinion (which is worth squat, by the way) are supposed to "tell it like it is" and these don't. The hardest part of a trips like these would be the mental/emotional challenge (if it was just you and a mate battling away in the middle of nowhere) and having that support crew on hand removes most of that challenge.
I lost all respect for Ewan Macgregor when he was out and about on a custom bike that he said he'd built himself.....then I saw photo's of the same bike being built by a professional....twat.
Got the book from the library.
Read 3/4 of it, then took it back and felt pissed off that I wasted a few hours of my time reading that pap.
I'm NOT Homophobic!! I am not afraid of my own house.
The Long Way Round was the influences that finally made me the desision to buy a bike and get out on it.
The Race to Dakar (just charlie) was a good explination of what goes on behind the scenes of the Dakar Rally. Charlie was obviously far out of his element, but how many of us wouldnt be when compared to the worlds top riders.
And the Long Way Down.... Well it was definitely to worst of the lot, to much reality television drama and not enough boys on bike enjoying the culture and the adventure. And Ewans wife should have said at home and let boys be boys, from the amount of time she fell she clearly didnt have the skills to make it an enjoyable trip.
