    Fork Oil change

The book says to change the fork oil every 20,000cliks. On my bike. When do you guys change the oil in your forks. Also what are the symptoms to let you know your fork oil needs changing. I have 22,000cliks up, and the front forks feel ok. So do I just keep going or what????
    Cheers

    My 2c:

Deterioration in performance will happen incrementally over time and will be hard to pick up, so the forks will probably seem fine enough. I had an oil seal go a few months ago on a 2003 X11 with 20Ks and fair to say the state of the oil and build up of gunge was disgraceful. I will be doing mine every 20,000 or 24 months. Pretty cheap to do for such an important part of riding safely.

I do mine either when a seal blows or over the Christmas holidays.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Pretty cheap... Not being stingy just not sure what to expect so give us a number so we know we aren't going to get ripped off. I have been told mine is needed not that I have noticed any changes.

    cheers

Total front end service / rebuild including brake pads and freeing up a binding calliper about $270.00 from local shop - charges labour @ $60.00 ph

Recent quote to respring front including oil and seals ~ $485.00 on a forks delivered basis.

If you are mechanically minded then you could easily service your forks for less than $200.00

1l fork oil $16 - $20 has been enough for both legs in my experience, it's possible there are some that will require more than 500ml per leg.
If you need oil seals, $20-$30 a pair for aftermarket common models, OEM a bit more I guess. I don't know how much dust seals cost.
