does it matter if one light is actually out?

I mean with the lights on a car, you can tell how wide it is at night, so on a bike........errrrrrrrr................2 lights tells you....................OK, WTF!!!!
Everyone should disconnect one light from theyre bikes - then we will all get notied on the road

I think I will keep mine on. It may not actually help me that much to get noticed by other motorists, but I like to think it does, and I'll take all the advantages I can get thanks

Think it was in Aus when the first 916 came out, they had trouble getting ADR compliance nad at one stage the front fairing was replaced with another fairing that just had a square headlight replacing the twin headlights! Ducati Oz gave the original fairing and twin headlights when the bikes were sold but for a while you could only register one with the square headlight, think this was becuase the headlight were different with the high beam being a projector type headlight unit.

Yea shit i remember seeing a few pics in performance streetbike a while back of the square light fitted, now that was ugly as sin, poor aussies having to put up with crap like that to go with the noise restrictions n all.

Maybe Quasi should look at something like that to or buy a gixxer

just in case any of You guys with modern sportsbikes tries to convert from single to dual headlights on low beam, remember that the reflector bucket on the 'high only' side is shaped for high beam and so running a low beam through it will cause it to point upwards into peoples eyes like a normal high beam except with less brightness.
    ..it's another red light nightmare..

If the bike has two lights I would have thought it made good sense to have both of them working on dip as well as full, for a start it LOOKS better and I thought it would be good for safety, i.e. I should imagine it would be pretty exiting to come up to a bend just as a car is coming the other way, you dip you lights and THEN find out the dip light has 'ceased to function'

'Course us mere mortals with only one headlight run that risk all the time - but it adds to the danger/excitement aspect to riding along with speeding, camera cars, wandering stock, dopey drivers etc, in fact it is all sounding rather too risky to ride at all.

I'm quite surprised that I had so very few people flash their lights at me when I've had higher wattage bulbs in my bikes. The VF500 had a 130/90W bulb, with large-gauge cables direct from the battery to a relay behind the headlight, and because the reflector was well designed/engineered had very good lighting.
The VFR750 initially had the stupid Honda bulbs (different pins to H4s) which were only 45W , so I replaced them with dual 100/80W bulbs, which were OK, reasonable lighting, but not as good as the single one on the VF.
The VTR1000 had the 130/90W from the VF, no relay, until the low beam filament burned out.
I dunno what the VifFerrari's lights perform like (other than that they're 60/55W) as I've yet to ride it at night. They should be OK, but apparently not as good as the new VFRs which have very good lighting with their 4-bulb set up.

Next thing is to get a replacement horn or two, as the one on the VifFerrari is squeakily pathetic. Best setup I had was dual horns on the VFR750, wired to a relay. The horns were nothing special, but the extra current made a big difference.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

You could try Gmans trick and fit twin airhorns
