Why do Harley riders wear vests and Johnny Rebs?

Actually, I got tired of people (not you) telling me all about the culture identities and behaviours of Harley riders.

I thought fuck it, I've been riding the damn things for 20 years and now some ones trying to tell me how things "really are" out there ......."on the road"

i always hear sport bikers mocking harley/crusiers because they wear johnny reb boots and vests etc.....the same could be sed about sport bike riders, why do heaps of them wear full piece leathers and sport bike boots....because it goes with the style of bike/brand, you wouldnt see a harley rider in a full peice green kawazaki suit but kawazaki riders wear them and you wouldnt see a kawazaki rider in rebs and a harley vest but harley riders wear them....i think for most people they wear what goes with the bike

cause sport bike riders are poofs, each to their own, were all bikers

I have both cordura or leather to choose from,not worried about the style factor,i.e doesn't have to be Alpinestar so it's cool or Spike etc.Just clothing which is comfy and does the trick.So if a image is what I am expected to ride too it could be true,if I had a Harley I'd still use the same gear,as quite a few guys have done,saw a couple of Harley dudes a week or so ago,they had multi coloured lids not matt black ones.To guys stopped yesterday for lunch where we were,all three(2 guys,1 lady)had matt black lids,jeans and black jacket,not part of a gang,not intimidating,but still dressed for the road,stereotypical yep,but good guys,if they rode a sportsbike you wouldn't know the difference,so many riders wear similar stuff.
