Say, would anyone know if there is something similar to Keith Code's, On One Wheel (the wheelie school in the USA) in New Zealand, or even Australia?

Sounds like you are keen to send that R1 down the road riderless again!!!

I'd doubt if there's a formal school; wheelies are naughty, y'know.....
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
Yeah I know, I can't even ride the damn thing properly yetI just get really impatient.
Sheesh, who knew experience would take so long to obtain!![]()
Yep, it's called buying the Trash man a box of Steinies in return for a wheelie lesson.Originally Posted by StoneChucker

Eh wot eh wot eh wot? You want to wheelie an '04 R1?
Big straight bit of flat hard stuff, first or second gear, grit your teeth and grab a handful. Surely can't be much more to it.
Am I being insensitive?
Perhaps you need something a little cheaper to practise on. Go get a dirtbike.
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, at the moment though, circumstances don't allow itOriginally Posted by jrandom

It's easy to get it up, NOT so easy to get it up without scaring the crap out of myself. I've watched too many "crash vids" of wheelies![]()
I don't want to crash again, but if I do, I better do a proper job of it![]()

I agree, I learned to wheelie on my old Dt 175 (not an easy task) and my bro's CR250. On these, there was no need to drop the clutch or anything too fancy. Just start off in 1st or second set back in the seat and give the bars a tug and a handful of throttle and your on your way. Hardest thing is getting your centre of balance right so you don't end up shelling out for new rear plastics.
I don't pretend to have any experience with 1L bikes, but from myfarm bike days one suggestion would be to start off by pulling wheelies up a steep incline (such as a steep street), you will find the wheel raises a lot easer and with more control (make sure not to overdo it though!!). By doing this I found I could begin to pull smaller but longer wheelies until I was comfortable keeping raising the wheel higher and ultimatley keeping it mono.
Now I have a ZXR 250 and the only way I have found to get that up is a nasty clutch drop with the front wheel sitting on a large speed hump!!
Well i know the 400 can get up......... so how about you lend me the R1 and i'll just make sure it is able to get the front wheel of the ground, hell the bike may be defective

Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...
I can vouch for the fact that you can... through no lack of trying the other night![]()
