That stretch of road should have its own Facebook appreciation group! Awesome pic, cheers.

For sure eh! I had a real problem with the tightish right hander on the last passing lane before the summit on the Welly side, hated that corner something bad, but then I talked myself into just doing it, looking ALL the way round it and then flicking back the other way for the right hander afterwards and started to be able to do it quite happily. Now it's my favourite corner on the whole road, just hang it out and go for it, need some more ground clearance on the Hornet though!!!

Excellent pic, I would like to see a pic of the other side though. I have ridden it often on a push bike (multisport training). What was hard when going down the Featherston side was braking into the corners on little racing push bike tyres (you had sore hands from braking by the time you got to the bottom)

That truly is a very nice pic of a very nice piece of road.

Surprises me today just how short it actually is!

It is etched deep in my mind (since a small child) that it goes on and on forever! Cheers John.

I like the Taka's. But everytime I go over it, I remember the piece of advice given to me by Mrs Kendog, that it is a piece of road that deserves respect no matter how many times you have ridden it, and no matter what the weather is like.....

Now if someone would be kind enough to pass on some tips on how to go downhill as smoothly would be appreciated........

If your looking at Bike Comms, have a read of this review..

See if you can spot the balloons Trudes!!

I am going to have to admit to the fact I have loved the Takas, but not so much as when I was blasting up there on my GN250, yep! Esp going around the tight Muldoon Corner awesome fun. Now I just have to get up some confidence and practice going up on my bandit... hmm maybe tonight!

I don't get it. This must be one of the worse roads around.

    The surface is shit,
There is zero visibility in the corners,
There is either white lines, rocks or diesel on most of the corners,
There is heaps of traffic going at seemingly random speeds and in random positions on the road.
And it takes 20 minutes of boring motorway riding to get there.

    What am I missing?

That all adds to the fun of it, if it wasn't for all those things (except for the boring motorway ride there, even that you can make interesting if you try!!) then there'd be no challenge and it would be like the motorway! However taking all the annoying cars/trucks/campervans etc off there would make it more fun, but then they are just passing practice and are usually going so slow that they're almost like large lumps of steel that you just dodge. (Can you tell I've just got back from a spin up there in the beautiful morning sun??)
