We're talking suspension in cars all of a sudden. Let's get this thing back on-topic! (Or at least make the discussion more interesting than talking about how much money is thrown at suspension - car suspension is "slightly" more complicated than that.)

One question - was the road ahead clear and straight? In that case I'd say I see heaps more dangerous maneuvers every day - all done well within the legal boundaries of the law. Passing lane etiquette in NZ is abhorrent and you know that as well as I do.

Next time you sit stuck in traffic due to the sheeple - take some comfort that some people do think outside the box.

Nah, in my hot rod about 1/4+ of a km behind.

I guess he got past safely but not a good move - not only did he have a large truck and all the cars passing it and already on front of it to out-accelerate (and it sure as hell didn't look like any form of land-missile from where I could see) but he would have been coming in from the side which other drivers would not have expected a car to appear from.

    Eh?

    You talking about me?

I've never raced a motorcycle in my life, and make no claim to being a rider of any merit whatsoever. I can barely keep the bloody things upright. It was a cause for significant celebration when I got my knee down at the last trackday I attended.

I do happen to own a 'race bike', though, for whatever that's worth.

Last year, I bought an 8-year-old SRAD that had all of 19,000km on the clock due to spending most of its life in a garage or on the track, and I've hardly touched it since.

None of its suspension setup was done by me or for me.

Bit of a cunt, really, aren't you?

No, but come to think of it, a GSX1400 racing class would be totally awesome.

    Engage brain before typing, dude.

The GSX1400's suspension adjusters are big fat hand-twiddleable knobs hanging off the side of the bike. If the stock springs and dampers wasn't so damn squishy and coarse that everything needed to be on full crank all the time, it'd be great for adjusting between one up / two up / road / track etc as required.

The GSXR's Ohlins unit, on the other hand, is tucked away under the rear subframe and requires certain tools to change the settings on.

When in doubt, you do tend to default to being a meanie bum, don't you?
