Dad and half-brother had ridden bikes before I was born, but never actually saw either of them ride. Always thought the bike (GT250 X7) in the garage was interesting tho. Well, Dad got ill when I was in Std 4 and from then the bike sat.... and sat... and sat.
I was a boy racer so never really took an interest in the thing. I had the preconception of riding bikes as 'an exceptionally fun way to kill yourself'.
Fast forward to 2 years ago and I guess I'd gradually adjusted my way of thinking a bit. Eventually I realised that since there was free bike parking at work (distance is too far to pushbike) I could possibly save some $$$ buying a bike, and it might even be a bit fun.
Well I got that the wrong way round. Don't really save much $$$ over a car, but save time, and it's more than just a 'bit' fun!![]()

Pure rebellion .. all I wanted when I was growing up was a big motorcycle, a black leather jacket and a patch ... a 1%er in the making ... I was going to be an outlaw biker ...
I got the big motorcycle, the black leather jacket but I never did get a patch .. MCs have rules .. what kind of outlaw bikers have rules??? Fuck that ..
40 years later I'm still largely a rebel biker ... tho' nowadays most of my rebellion comes out in rebelling against the road rules ...
