    1200ks in 24hrs

as the title suggests I just did the loop from Akl-TePuke-Mahia-Napier-Taupo-Akl loop. good ride, Waioeka gorge is 1/2 metal at the mo which was interesting in the rain & dark & sure blowing a gale down BOP way. filled up at Opoutama & got about 5 kms short of the kiosk on the napier-taupo road when the fuel light came on(woops). Pulled in at the kiosk and the guy says there's gas at Rangitaikei(the big tea cup) 40 ks away. got there to find a sign saying sorry no fuel AT ALL. did 78 kms on the orange fuel light & ended up rolling down into taupo from the napier side into the mobil by the corner. never been so happy to see a gasso, i rolled into the forecourt with my fists raised in the air like a marathon winner. musta looked stupid but i was stoked. put 19l into my 18l tank, red bull & away.
good trip, did the family stuff, had a big feed of whitebait, bike just screamed(err i mean purred), never missed a beat. only 2 moments, when a 4wd dickhead slammed on their brakes on a straight & another when banked over at speed hit a big gouge in the road surface.
sure reminded me why gsxr's are not classed as touring bike's.
    all good...

Great ride, but it intrigues me you went into Opoutama for gas.
    Cheers

yeah woke up at 3am last night yelling with my upper calf in a hell cramp.
butt & wrists were ok, just legs were sore as I just can't seem to find a restful position on the gsxr. did get sore fingers from constant acceleration & braking. bike has 14k-ish i think. highlights were the kaimais,a stretch of nice road coming towards opotiki, the wairoa-napier road & the napier taupo road. woulda loved to stop & take some pics but i can't stand to stop once i've got into a rythm.

750Y - Some of us could have accompanied you from Gissie to Taupo if we had of known. You are so right about the Wairoa/Napier/Taupo stretch of road.

Sorry mangell6, that woulda been good.
There's a bit of metal between Wairoa & Napier at the moment but the Xmas traffic should tidy it all up and it'll be good late summer.

    You are a true champion!
i have done enough long distance riding to know what it takes out of you, i have never cracked out that many k's in one day, i have only done about 900km in a one day.

oh, with the fuel issue. thats a game i like to call fuel light bingo, when the light comes on you see how far you can get. you win by if you get all the way home (this game is best played in a cage, so when you get home the missus will fill the car for you!)
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.
