    Congratulations, Luke!

Looks just like my old VFR750, and the same as VivaVee's. (BTW - it's NOT my old one - mine had polished wheels.)

Have you got a better picture of it?

I know you know heaps about bikes, but if you have any VFR-specific queries, just ask me.

And for all you mockers - there's a very good reason why the VFR was voted top of so many bike tests - it's a very good all-rounder, is easy to ride, and has some character as well.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

well guys after many years of kawasaki and yamaha ownership i've gone over to the dark side of the force.
Yep i'm the proud owner of a 1990 Honda VFR750
It sounds soooo good -Once I get the rear shock back from reco ill be out riding her.
Excellent choice Frosty. Is it the single-sided swingarm model? If so I had the same bike about 12 months ago and what a delightful machine. Only sold because...um..actually...damned if I know why I sold it...shoulda kept it now that I think of it... the guy I sold it to was so delighted with that he rang me at Xmas to thank me for selling it to him...true... oh well I digress). Plenty powerful enough and lots of torque everywhere, and very refined. They're a quality bike. Personally prefer their look to the later models (apart from the grey seat...why did they put a light grey seat on a black bike???)

    GREAT with a pillion too

Hey F/S did you own a black VFR about a bit more than a year ago that was in a prang with a car and sold at auction...to me???? A well looked-after one that had new tyres, freh chain and sprockets and around 50000kms on it????

    Well, Yes. I did.
    Guilty as charged.

Because it looks kewl. Much better than the horrendous RED one they put on some red bikes, or the grey one on the red bikes.

I actually prefer the grey seat (on the black bike) to the black one, apart from showing boot polish marks...

Actually I must confess -I buy bikes cos theres summat about em that is loveable. The gsx had tourque to africa and on one I owned previously was bloody hard to beat in more open corner riding.
I love XJ's cos theyre just so damb easy to ride -Its bloody hard to get in the shit on one.
But viffers --well i owned a 700/750 once -700 motor lunched the top end (cam gear went bye byes) and the 750 was about 1.0m long
Other than the twitchy front end (16" wheel) I liked it.
HEY FS--where/what etc with the rear shock?

    Mine is knackered

    V4s rule

You will really enjoy it. I know I do. Just like FS said, it didn't get regularly good reviews for nought. Short of transforming into a outright race machine it pretty much covers all my riding moods.

    ENJOY!

You could replace it with a Hagon, Ohlins, etc. or you could get Gebby Bruin (SP?) on the North Shore to refurbish it (prolly the best option). You should probably also look at the bearings etc. in the linkages in the rear end too. Unless someone's looked at them, they're probably dry and ooooky. Other than that, there's not any real problems with this bike model. There's all sorts of things you can do cheaply to improve them, like converting the airfilter to a Uni (if it doesn't have one already) by cutting out the paper elephant and gluing in some Unifilter foam; shimming the needles in the carbs if the mixture's not right; sharpening up the steering by raising the fork tubes through the triple clamps and/or reversing the eccentric on the rear wheel to lift the rear end, etc.
And then there's the dreaded Wreck-you-later / Rectum-fryer but having done two (2!!) of those, I aint scared of them no more.

Have fun, and enjoy that V4 growl and the gear-driven cams. Yay! No camchains!!
    ... and that's what I think.

Well bugger me days......that was bloody good bike. . It was bought off me by a middle-aged guy who was returning to riding. He rang me up a couple of months after buying it, just before Xmas, and said
" Kerry, you've made my year!!!" True as I stand(sit) here. It was a really nice gesture...he was absolutely rapt and had already done something like 5000kms on it. Small world etc etc etc...

Yeah, it was. Apart from being very lazy. Or jinxed. Or lazy and jinxed.
But, I had a lot of fun on it, and not too much grief.
Tell me (if you will; you can PM me if you don't want it made public) - how much did the 'wreck' cost at auction, and how much were the repairs? Spectrum quoted $7800 for repairs . I couldn't get to the auction and Turners refused to tell me what it went for.

By the way - apparently (not that anyone - including me - gives a flying rat's arse or even a non-flying one) this is my 2 bazillionth posting to the E-steamed fora of Kiwi Biker.

Darn it! you stopped my witty anti honda comeback right in its tracks!!

Oh well, I'll proceed regardless and accept the rightful flaming that I deserve while I wait for parts to get mine going!
