    Thanks folks!

For those of you wot need stuff explained: I knew there was diesel, I was actively trying to dodge the stuff sitting on top of the damp road surface: and I STILL fell off.

Plus it's a single vehicle accident, so it can't be anyone else's fault.

If it helps any, I'm absolutely ferked from trying to do too much, so I should've got the train instead of trying to ride over.

    My fault entirely.

Sorry to hear about your off. Just a thought, but you knew it was there and were trying to avoid it but still managed to hit it, so there must have been a lot of diesel on the road, right? You didn't put the diesel there did you? So it can't be all your fault. The bloody diesel shouldn't have been there in the first place! Was said diesel on a corner?

It was just after a corner and the bike was practically vertical when I fell off. It was weird.

    Thatnks for the thought.

I can only look at this thread at work so the wife doesn't see all those Buell references.

Have to wait and see if it's a write off or not.

A Kawasaki Z750 is looking like a good idea at the mo!

I tell ya TRX's don't like being binned at slow speeds mine was a write off and petroleum products were not involved and only doing 50kph. No injuries either which is so unfair when the bike was so badly damaged. Never had any problems at high speed.

I am actually considering using my holiday time to do just that, instead of, you know, gardening stuff.

Have to fabricate some brackets to hold the side panels on, buy an impact driver so I can get the carbs off to clean them, do the clutch, and then re-register it.

$340 to get it re-VInned and new plates. $60 for a clutch kit, $170 for a new rear tyre, oil, oil filter, and plugs (about $60). Then I should be off again on the CBR.

Have asked in-laws for cash for my Christmas present

Apparently front end impacts tend to irreparably damage the frame tube/headstock area as they are designed to take vertical rather than horizontal load. Well that last bit is a bit obvious, but TRXs are seem to be more susceptible to damage in that area from a frontal than other space framed bikes.

I have an impact driver you can borrow. Plus nearly all the tools we need with the exception of air compressor, welding gear and flywheeel pullers, which you most likely don't need.

Ah... and a couple bucks maybe for the bolt I lost when we worked on it too...

Actually, happy to help if I can matey. That way our better halves can catch up etc...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
