Another possibility is buying the bike back as a wreck, and getting a new frame, I guess.

But that way lies masses of red tape.

This guy imports a fair bit of motorcycle spares from Japan and advertises stuff on trademe - he may be worth talking too about another TRX frame maybe.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

At $8500 for a new frame, I think not.

    Certainly is.

Except if you buy TRXs from WMC

    Good to hear you're okay.
Amazing how much diesel there is on the road over the takas! Came back over last Sunday (when it was howling southerlies and pissing down), was glad to get back in one piece, slowest ride I ever had.

Damm that's a lot for a frame. When my cbr900 frame was replaced I seen to recall $3500 + shipping from Japan. Mind you if the mv frame had to be replace I shudder to think what that would cost.

It's this sort of honest support and ideas that warm the cockles of your heart.

    Thanks folks.

We'll see what happens. If it's repairable, well and good. If it's not, then I'll definitely get the CBR going, and see what I can do about either a new bike, or "streefighterising" the TRX.

Depends on the budget you see

If you buy back the wreck can you re-register it again?

Does it have to undergo low-volume certification?

usually the insurance company writes it off. They ya have to reregister it.
I have images of a Yamaha "monster" type bike
Nekkid and brutal looking I think with that trellis frame itd look real good.

IIRC low volume certification is only for highly modified/home built vehicles... I imagine re registering the bike with a different frame number but the same engine number *may* present some hassles.

As Blakamin says......... "Fuck" Not good.

How long do you think until you are back up and running?
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

    FZ6! FZ6!

    Or... how about an SV1000S?

    Go on.

The price of a Buell's probably a bit of a stretch to put past Mrs Jim, but either of the above would be a tiddly matter of abstracting a few grand away somewhere on top of the TRX's insurance payout.

    Has to be done.

What's your pleasure, Jim? Are you hanging out for a write-off and new wheels, now, or hoping for a fix-up?
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.
