HELP! Insurance and what to do.

Good morning, the saga of the bike is still with me.

This morning I was speaking to the insurance company, they will repair the bike if I choose an after market exhaust sleeve, or if I want original, they will write it off and pay me out.

What am I to do? Either way it is going to cost me $900 excess and apparently I need to tell the guy today.

    It's your decision, Dude.

If you accept that payout, what can you buy with what they give you? Would it be as good as your bike when it's fixed?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I dont think there is a time limit on when you need to tell the assessor man.
end of the day you pay the premiums etc so fuk em. wait till you have thought about it for a bit and then tell them.

If you fell off then you should also be looking to claim for your riding gear.
this may help offset the cost of the xs if it is not too badly damaged...

Take your time on a decision, I always think writing down the pro's and con's involved in a situation is a good idea.

Just a thought, can they pay you out, then you buy your bike for wrecking value and cheaply fix it up.

    As above:
the only idea i have is that you ring up someone like netune exhausts in welly and find out how much its gonna cost to re sleve it. then let the insurance company write it off on the condition you can buy it back for cheap. resleve it and with the extra money pay off the loan on it or save for a better bike.
but the down side is you dont want to have too many claims against you when you want to buy a bigger bike later on.
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.

If the bike gets written off, it means you'll have to re-register it - not cheap by any means.

What I had happen when some fella backed into my bike is the insurance was going to write it off, but I got them to paid me a reduced sum, let me keep the bike and fix it myself. Got meself a whole lot of quality tools and went for it.
