But, but, that would mean having to ride down to Invercargill first, making the trip twice as long...

    Oh, hang on...

Oh yeah? C'mon you guys, be sensible. Who'd be mad enough to attempt to attempt anything as rediculous as these. Especially that Southern Cross thing, East Cape - Cape Egmont - Cape Reinga - Bluff in 120 hours,

Now, if I was mad enough to enter such an event, how would I do it?

As far as I am aware there already is such an event but can't recall the name - the owner of Hutt Boyz Choppers competed in it last year in his Ferrari.

You want to do a huge run and then say (anything closer to Auckland) - I guess that you could simply go outside and ride around the block a few times.

There is the devils run: http://www.devilsrun.co.nz/ if you have to ask you cant afford it (I know I sure as hell cant).

From memory the police set them up (or rather allowed them to set themselves up) and a ton were ticketed. Cops on the Desert road - who would have figured.

    Lightbulb The REAL Cannonball run

Don't know if you guys realise, but the Cannonball Run is a real event.

And... this is the bit I like... it was originally a bike event, before the car event was formed (and eventually took over).

Thankfully, the bike event is back and doing well.

This is the link to the official site - I've left it at the "choose between Europe or US events", so you can have a good look round:

    http://www.cannonballruneurope.co.uk/

Worth checking out - may be worth contacting the organisers?

Yeah I know it's a real event and it's one of 2 events I would like to try in my life. The second being the Dakar Race.

My opinion: Make an event like this legit in the sense let people speed (closed off roads if possible),that way you don't get the trigger happy feeling when you are the road the next time around...I always have to keep telling myself...don't speed...

Sounds like a plan. Have a couple of mates who might be keen to join in. Only thing is that one rides a Yamaha YZF600R and another mate rides a Yamaha R1. Maybe it shouldn't restricted to just 250CC?

PS: Doesn't the proposed licensing laws affect learners only?
