Straight down SH1 to Ohinewai, then left to Tahuna. Most unlikely to see mr Plod on this road. Then on to the swamp road, down 27 to Matamata and over the hill, turn right at Hairini and go through Welcome Bay to miss the road works.

see, last time i went down that's what my mate said, but on the way back i ended up going via waihi by accident(don't ask) & it took the same time. of course it rained solidly from akl-TP on the way down and the cops along those straights meant I had to keep near the limit mostly whereas the way back was sunny & less cops. anyway thanks for the advice peoples.
oh & cheers N, i'll keep your no handy but tell the truth i'm gonna be tight for time(TP is only halfway), hence the post.

as a truck driver i used to travel these roads everyday and i agree in a truck they both take the same time. only one way (matamata) is boring as hell. both of them have cops
