    No good dude!

I'm on the road heading for work at that time too - I'm extra mistrusting of all cages at intersections at that time, as the cagers are all still asleep in their nice warm cars (red light running seems extra egregious at this time too!)

I employ a nice little weave (like tyre warming) when heading towards intersections with waiting cages - seems to help the buggers see me a little better IMHO. A little high beam can be helpful too - a solid blast though, flashing might make the buggers think you're letting them in.

At least it sounds like a cut-and-dried case mate - still a bummer though.

That's why I pretty much starting cycling eveywhere this year, but you still have to be just as careful.

At least if they take me out, it's my crusty old $40.00 bicycle, not the CBR 929..

You can never be too careful and plus, Auckland drivers are pretty much up there among the worst.

yea I do a fair bit of cycling too, and you can always just jump up a curb when its a bit hairy. but I think cars have even less respect for you on a bicycle.

What helps me to get noticed is not my horn but my exhaust, sometimes when things like this happen I just pull in my clutch and let my RF go up to 16'000 RPM, with an aftermarket exhaust (hey even stock will do) you will get a lot more priority on the streets, at least thats what I have found. Everyone looks at the bike (and hopefully its big enough to impress/scare them (not sure of the word here, but Im sure you get my drift)), also have the lights always on and avoid colours like silver or white, (not that there is anything wrong with these colours, just hard to notice thats all), other than that, just always asume that everyone is an idiot and is trying to kill you, that way you will not be suprised but have an escape route in mind, (eg pulling to the right of the road when there is a car at the intersection) but I am glad you are alright, have fun on the roads

lol yeah thats the last time i make a grand entrance!
I am alright a little sore now that i am home and not doing anything but other than that i am very lucky to only come off with the superficial injuries that i did.
the insurance is going alright at the mo. my wife works for the insurance company so they are handling it well, the guy that hit me was insured so that is all good. bike is being assessed tomorrow so should have some news by the end of the week i would imagine.
I am hoping the don't write it off as have become attached to my little suzi and would be sad to see her go.
thanks for the concern everyone and thanks to all the 3 bikers that stopped just to see if i was alright.

By slowing down you may have made the gap appear a little more makeable and so he took his chance somehow forgeting that once in front of you he cant actually accelerate fast enough to get out cleanly.

In those sorts of cases I normally speed up a little to leave no doubt in their mind that they cant make the gap although my bike is a bit bigger and alot noiseir than a gsx250.

Good to hear your ok though.

Bad luck about the accident..... but thankfully your alright.

    Chalk up another 'life experience'.

As it heads to winter can everyone please remember that the cagers have problems seeing bikes during summer so now they're even more stupid.

Bummer big time mate!!! I hope you heal up OK. I know that feeling - you keep going over it and what you could have done better. Keep your chin up and I hope you get a bike again really soon.
