Best way to get out on the track for first time?

Hi guys. Have had the 636 for probably only a month now but feel like getting out on a track with some open spaces and a little direction from the pro's would do a lot for the riding/confidence etc. The more I ride on the road the more I feel that getting off it would be the best and safest way to improve.

What are your thoughts on the best way to get out on the track for the first time? Head along to a rider training day at a track? A training day not at a track? Just jump in boots and all at any open day you can find and find your own pace?

Have been riding for only a bit over a year so figure it would be best to hear insights from other riders regarding lines, braking etc. Manfield is closest track to me being in Wgtn. Anyone know who runs training days there or which clubs have open days that are more or less open to all comers?

Interested to hear your thoughts, sorry if this topic has been done to death.
    cheers
    ben

Dude theres a couple of clubs running rider training days with a focus on learning better ride skills.
Theres a bloke that runs one course hat the short track at Taupo.
The fact you felt you needed to ask the question basicly answers it for you.
Most trackdays are structured from fast to slow in groups but youll need to talk to Shaun about some sopecific one on one training
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

Mate it all depends on how you're comfortable learning because we all have different learning styles. Some prefer practical, hands on experience (just get out there and do it and learn from experience) whilst others would prefer some theory/coaching. So really whatever you think might aid your learning.

Remember it's all a learning process at the end of the day and that's the way you become comfortable with your machine to push it and ride faster.

Track day training will cost you a little bit more than just a track day so you might want to look into just getting out there and doing a track day in a group you're comfortable in, slow medium ect.

That way you'll get a really good feel of your machine, your limits, top end speeds, corning ect. Believe me it's nothing like riding on the roads. You'll sure have a grin.

And then you could look into track day training. Either way have fun and enjoy !

I've got my first track day this weekend, its the hrc training day, so its a bit expensive, but will be a great experiance. Iv only been on a bike for about 7months, so Im a bit nervous, but I think getting on a track early on will help my riding alot.

The track is totally the way to push your limits in a controlled environment. There'll be trackdays for a track near you (at worst you'll have to go to Taupo with motott.co.nz)

The only problem is when you get ahead of yourself. Would highly recommend getting sliders for your bike. Farkin wish I had them now.

It will be awesome fun. I've done two MotoTT trackdays now and they've improved my riding no end. Only wish I'd started on the track earlier.
