Wrapping the exhaust headers is a technique that used in race cars to help reduce the temperature under the bonnet.

The problem with insulating the headers is that the engine head, exhaust valves, and muffler are forced to run at higher temperatures. Which reduces their operational life.

The purpose of the wrap is to keep heat in the exhaust gases, thereby maintaining high velocity. As the gases cool, they slow down.

Lowering of underhood temperatures is a red herring amigo.

Reckon? I've only been in once but I felt like the only motorcyclist there so it didn't do it for me.

I'm more of a country pub sort of person tho.

Oh, and the rat arsed kiwi is right, the header wrap is to promote better exhaust flow.

Guess your timing was off. Last time I was there, it was a Saturday, early afternoon, and there were 20-ish bikes parked out front and the majority of the customers were decked out in bike gear.

Most peeps were sitting around doing cafe stuff (talking BS mostly I figure) with the rest wandering about checking ot the cafe racer machines on display and in the workshop.

It sure ain't a country pub but...
