    Unhappy gah....97k's out of taupo

went to a wedding down in waipukarau this weekend
and managed to get talked into taking my bike as the rest of the guys where going down on their bikes
so me and my brother ('03 r6) decided to ride down to taupo and meet the others down there and then carry onto waipukky the next day
so saturday dawns brightly (apparently - my eyes opened about 9)
so after a hurried breakfast we all jumped onto the bikes and eagerly headed out to the naiper-taupo road and after a cold ride down the straight bits me and my brother decided to open our bikes out a little and took off together through the twisty bits together (and for those who havent been there it is almost worth the whole trip down for just that section thru the gorge) once we got to the top we stopped and waited for the other to turn up and then decided to give them a headstart. so once we set off again i get about 15 minutes down the other side my bike suddenly stops making its usual muffled screaming (earplugs) and starts to go parp wooosh parp woosh parp woosh and looses about 40% of its power so i pulled over to have a decent listen to it minus my helmet and earplugs...not very encouraging so my initial impression was a blown exhaust manifold so after a quick run back about 600m up the road i dumped my bike in some friendly locals garage i then had to pillion on the back of my brother r6 all the way to waipukarau and a damed fine wedding feast...
the next day we ended up buying a trailer to transport my bike back up on... but after picking my bike up and haveing another listen to it again it seemed to sound more like a valve problem, so again my bike is out of action
my plan is to take the head apart again and take it into mt eden m/c and get them to fix it...
i just hope that it isnt somehting really serious so that i can use my bike over the summer
    cheers
    m/m
ps oh and BIG ups to those really helpful ppl who put my bike up for the night (turned out to be bikers as well with a nice fleet of bikes in their garage)

Sad story. I always hate to learn of dead Kawasakis.

But "Waipukky"?? For that abuse alone you probably deserve to be marooned in the middle of nowhere. A contraction worthy of somebody who expects their hubby to make them a barbie brekkie before they open their Chrissie pressies...
