Cagiva 125?

On my way to work this morning I happened to walk past a scooter place just by work. They had this interesting 2 stroke looking bike out the front. Kinda looked like an RG but not, maybe seeing the word Cagiva on the tank should have given me a clue!..... I asked the owner about it the price he wanted for it seemed on the high side to me, but I dont actually know anything about it. Hmmm, it got me wondering.... 1988 Cagiva 125, 2 stroke, 6 speed and water cooled. It looks quite large for a 125, that may have been because of its fairings and the fact that it was a product of the 80's....

Can anyone tell me a bit more about these bikes?

Yeah, I had a read of that thread..... The 125 that I saw today is now 20 years old and im wondering what that one was like, apparently the new ones are a bit different?.... I could be worng but that's what I want to find out.....

It looked alot like this one, only blue.... Kinda ugly but there's something I really like about it, maybe its just beacuse its a 2stroke?

Peaky isnt always bad! The thing about it is that is road registered so im guessing that it'd be a sucky commuter but a shit load of fun over say the Taka's.

Im guessing that I would have to use Cagiva parts as well?....

Cagiva has sort of diminished in its brand by concentrating on the MV Agusta brand. Really only building scooters and small 2 strokes. They still supply parts (well some) but you do have to wait a bit. Being an older model I guess they would be far and few between so you really wouldn't want toby the look of all that body work,, bin it. But who wants to anyway. If the price is right, it would be real fun. I have dug up parts (other than engine which is a Suzuki) for my Navigator from the Aussie dealership, but there are no longer any active dealers in NZ.

Nah, there new ones.... The one I was looking at was a 1988 - See my photo a few posts above.... Im not sure how different the 88 ones are compared to the newish ones. The guy wants $3000 for it.... I havent looked at it properly, it just caught my eye.

1988 you'd only buy it for the intrigue value because that's pretty old for a small bike these days, and no, it wouldn't be injected, very few two strokes ever were even in race circles.

Yeah, for sure. If a I had a spare few grand lying around I would probably buy it just because....

Anyone know what kind of speeds and revs it does?.....
