A while ago the media got on the police chase bandwagon, there was a number of occurances where either police or the offender had crashed.

There was some big enquiry from memory and the outcome was police werent going to pursue when speeds were dangerous, i cant remember all the details.

I was wondering if anything official within the force had been issued? you know like a policy detailing situations or speeds at which a chase should be called off?

Or was it smoke and mirrors to get the media off the polices back?

The pursuit policy was reviewed and a few changes were made, mainly around who controls the pursuit and who has the final say about abandonment.

A new training package is also being delivered over the next year or so, it involves theory and practicle assessments of driving skills. Drivers who don't measure up won't be allowed to drive in pursuits.
