As I took off up the road I kept thinking to myself (don't laugh, I actually did say it out loud) "Get a grip". The rest of the ride to work was fine, and all was good thereafter; but I must say it crossed my mind to just turn around and leave the bike in favour of the car.
Who else has had that weird sensation of things just not feeling right? (My bike has just been serviced so it's highly unlikely my spidey senses are picking up anything wrong with my girl....)
sometimes i get on the bike - and it just doesn't work.
it's usually that i'm tired (i have two little kids and they make my sleep very fragmented sometimes) or i'm distracted.
    so i go home.
put the bike away, and ride again the next day.
that may sound a bit pussy, but i've been riding for 26 years and have only fallen once on the road - and that was in the domain hitting a white line in the wet.
i'm of the idea that it's a great hint that you are vulnerable that day, and tomorrow will probably be better.
YMMV, but that's what i do.

Yep.. even after 17 years of riding.. I still have the rare odd day where things just don't "gel"! I feel like I am riding like crap.. eg; screw up corners, hit every pothole on the road, miss gear changes, freak out at a tiny patch of gravel, etcetc. Have been known to tell meself, out loud.. "fer ferks sake woman.. sort ya blaady shit out!!" Generally that sort of day would happen if I was very tired.. or distracted bout something else & not really concentrating on what I was supposed to be doing.. RIDING!

Most days however.. we puuurrrrrrr together!
    GET ON
    SIT DOWN
    SHUT UP
    HANG ON

somedays it would be better if you just stayed in bed. Nothings going to go right, and getting on the bike isn't the best move.
Still, when you have to keep telling yourself "focus, get a grip" is better than just zoning out ... now what was I meant to be doing?
