Just make sure it's MORE: Top Gear and LESS: AA Motoring show
maybe include a "fav biker eatin/watering stop" spot, or have an on tour segment with a couple of clowns showcasing some of the more fun stuff ya see around the sticks
Hater of haters since 2012
My thoughts around it are....One very satisfying/insightful show for all bikers and for those that are on the verge of getting one, or hell, even the midlife change of events thing that happens to some people.
I will jot that down 'V'....a female part aye???....good thinking Bondy!.....![]()
Would you only do the bike tests on a track? I imagine that road tests (in addition to track tests?) would be better at determining 'fitness for purpose' for a lot of bikes, and, after all, it would be a programme for road riders.
Travel type segments on places to go with your bike could be nice - featuring interesting roads, motorbike friendly food/accommodation etc. And this sort of thing could add a bit of general-interest flavour, to increase awareness/interest from non-motorcyclists.
Would adventure/gravel riding be included as road riding? Or would it be a tar-seal-only programme? You could come up with some very scenic test rides/travel segments/whatever by including a bit of gravel.
Sounds like a great idea. I'd definitely be tuning in.

Why thank you...I'm sure I could come up with a few more thing if / when you're keen. Maybe a brainstorming around a couple of cold ones? I'd be dead keen to help...I will jot that down 'V'....a female part aye???....good thinking Bondy!.....![]()
Thank you Rosie.. idealy yes...track only, would want the bikes tested at more than road legal speed. Travel segment?... no resson why not, I have written down 'Tour rides'... but wasn't to sure. As for gravel/off the beaten track riding?.... no at this stage, but that doesnt mean it cant be introduced depending on demand.
How about travel friendly motels and hotels where they can offer some motorbike protection as you review some classic road rallys. A plug to let hotelliers know there is a motorbike community who will use if its available.
mmmmm when you say more top gear than AA motoring do you mean a fifth gear type show??
Changes to the law are topical
Even some funding from ACC on the ride skills segment
oh the list goes on... and make it fun and breezy lol... but you knew that eh.
take a page out of topgears book. look at everything not just top spec. but make it special when you do.
" yah trick yah "
I can provide some mechanical insight and viciously Un-PC remarks
One of the reasons (among many) for Top Gear's success (imo, others may disagree) is that they're quite happy to call a car "rubbish" if they don't like it.
In NZ's small market, a show like this is very hard to make without significant support from the bike manufacturers and dealers. The networks are not going to front up with the full production budget (if any), so sponsorship becomes a key element (look at the DIY & Real Estate shows).
Of course, it then becomes very hard to criticise one of your sponsor's products - and the audience will know it. IMO authenticity is the key to a show like this, and the hardest bit to get right in NZ's production climate.
Very valid point...however, surely it is possible to make a decent show without making a "motorbike Top Gear"...Maha's just got to find the right tone for the show...I don't think he's interested in making a replica of anything else. It would be a big mistake to try to imitate anyone.
