    Arrow Na really.

I originally responded to the attitude displayed as I thought it was pretty poor and rather grandious. Yea of course I'll let a bike slip by, I like to do the same sort of thing on a nice day and are aware of the shirty attitudes of the cage drivers who do not ride. But the point is that some attitudes displayed here suck also and I can't really say that either are better and feel that they are both equally shite There is no law at all that states the inner most lane as reffered to as "the fast lane" is there for speeding. I doubt either that the people reffering to the law of keep left are actually correct as this would cause other traffic problems if we kept to the left, the most left i.e. the outside lane. To suggest this would be stupid. I am happy to consider everyones' opinion, but not if they have to resort to potty talk. So as you were, good night

    Here's that legislation,

(2)Subject to regulations 7 and 8 hereof, every driver on any road marked in 2 or more lanes for the direction in which he is travelling shall not drive in the right-hand lane if by doing so he would impede the normal flow of traffic in that lane, unless this is necessary for the purpose of passing an obstruction or in the course of overtaking.

i have highlighted 2 or more lanes, to show that it includes motorways, it then states that you shall not drive in the right hand lane if you will impede traffic, this show that if the driver behind you is speeding, and is breaking the law, you too are also breaking the law, as your impedeing him/her travelling further.

The final part shows that the right lane is a "Passing Lane" not a "Fast Lane". Im sure a fast lane was just a term made up by people, because they could get to where they wanted to go faster due to people keeping left.....
    Hope that helps mate

Ahhh was interesting to see this one pop up in that link:
Notwithstanding anything in subclause (1)(b) of this regulation, it shall not be an offence for a driver if, in the interests of safety, he moves his vehicle as far as practicable to the left of the roadway on which he is travelling and slows or stops his vehicle in advance of the point where he intends to turn to the right until the roadway is clear of other traffic.

It would be nice if more people were aware of this, being one of the safer things to do out on the open road.

    The best bit is at

    http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/roadcode/key...-driving2.html

which states "keep left unless passing".
There is nothing in the road code to state what lane you should be in, but seeing as we are supposed to be considerate drivers (Spud mentioned this in one of the other threads) which would mean allowing people to pass when they need to provided it doesn't endanger you, then I suggest that people MOVE OVER if there is space in the other lanes and you are travelling at a similar speed to the traffic - going faster? Fine... Going slower? Get across to the left because it allows people to pass, and you aren't keeping "left unless passing".

yes there maybe nothing in the road code, but as i have quoted the legislation it is law that you have to be in the left most lane unless passing...

And peoples' attitude clearly display this and the potty talk has actually intensified. Well I'm not one to have it continue and people have made the assumption that if the majority agree then it must be true. The actual point is that in the case of someone speeding they are actually doing an unlawfull act and do not have the right to have all those travelling at the legal speed merely "get outta my way". Well good luck to you all. I see there are plenty of shite attitudes here that have no willingness to consider another point of view and take a holier that thou attitude. Well good on ya and merry Xmas, I'll piss off now from this thread and pull over, if I can.
