Favourite (bike) sounds from the '70's, when tits were real, and pussies were hairy:

Good for you on the character comment!!!!

I might be just a little biased but as far as road-going bikes are concerned I agree on bevel-drive through Contis.
Maybe a Norton with pea-shooters as second.

I was sitting at Shingle Creek pub once when a Honda Six (I'm sure it had a six-into-six, would that be right?) took off and hammered it up the hill, you could see and hear it for about a k and a half before it disappeared.
    That was glorious!!

Another that springs to mind is a Trident the old man had with the most outrageous 3/1 Ive ever seen,he used to leave Ferniehurst and head down through the Hundalees towards the old Conway store and you could hear it for miles, glorious

Yup, second the Rotary. A friend down in Blenheim has one that he bought back from the UK. Unfortunately it has developed some electrical gremlins and won't start anymore

Nope, changed my mind. It's been so long since my RC30 ran that I forgot what it sounds like. Try this one, Nick Jefferies at the IOM.

    RC30 gets my vote.

I love the sound of the Triumph triples and the Ducati twins, but to this day, the nicest bike I've heard was a Buell S1 Lightning. It wasn’t very loud, but this thing emanated such low frequency sound, you’d end up with goose bumps every time it went past. I was informed that it was far from standard.

CBX1000 for me closely followed by VFR750 (early one). I'm such a honda fag. Sound clips appreciated.

I'm just happy when mine is pulling any RPM.
