Lovely T. I am currently drafting a letter to the gorgeous folks at the usual place to request the normal thingames OR the opp to prove I can do all that it takes to get all the normal thingamees so that I can get all the normal thingameeeeeesss
Clearly you are an emo tooI'll be checking you out later ROFL
MMM Banana you sayor are YOU just happy to see me
As it currently stands...The full license practical test has all the hazard ID stuff and U-Turney stuff in it. Read the latest road code they state in there that they don't do any of that during the Restricted test and that the Learners 70Km on the motorway restriction is exempted for the period of the duration of the test...so you were allowed to do it, infact it was expected...that makes sense...the biggest apparent gain for getting your restricted in my books is avoiding the license condition ticket around doing 100Km when you only *supposed* to be doing 70Km (wot a crock that is huh?! ...all the times I was almost killed onthe motorway it was for not keeping speed with the traffic around me at 100Km)
I've been thinking actually that the test seemed a bit easy in terms of what I felt I had to *prove* that I could do.
In terms of myself I am comfortable,Obviously I AM Happy and relieved and all that stuff and DON'T get me wrong I am NOT complaining! In fact - I'm quite comfortable about sitting my full and getting that over with! (well maybe not right now, effing southerly rain and dark! I think NOT!!!)
I've been fortunate to be in the right place at the right time and so, have had years of practice, miles and experience, attended rider and advanced rider skills training AND *frankly* I feel pretty confident, know my rules, wear ATGATT, ride defensively and always with something in reserve on the road, obey the law (at least ALL most always), and am out to enjoy riding for a long time while being around to watch my son grow up!
HOWEVER
at the end of today...I can't help feeling that if it were my child who had just gone for this test and passed, I would not be comfortable at the prospect of him being on the road if I hadn't had him attend some training courses and sessions and spent time riding with him getting him into it and teaching him some road sense and taking him out and practising basic and emergncy techniques and expecting him to prove to ME that he can do some of these things safely and consistently. I don't feel that I was *really* tested today to a level where a *real* newbee, especially someone young or born again after a long absence
Perhaps this possibly seemingly over protective bent is just because, as a rider I know what I know? DunnoBut this will definately effect how Sully One is *inducted* into riding...not sure I would've had that same insight if I'd sat this Waaaaaaaaaayyyy back when I should've
Anyway - BEWARE: Own Brilliant ideasthoughts, ramblings and perspectives coming up....................and no I haven't been reading anything so I don't really give a crap if someone else came up with it first.
I think when they do tighten things up riders SHOULD have to
- PROVE that they are still capable of doing all those basic handling skills things.
AND- be tested and assessed in a more controlled environment for a lengthier period against ALL of the basic handling and rider skills...such as those which you had to complete and get a certificate of proof to say *you did that ok* SO that you could "get on the machine" in the first place. Seems elementary my dear Watson?
Finally if you are still reading..congratulations!
IT feels good to have knocked that bastard off, I welcome the opportunity to complete the next stage!

Made it, phew.
Congrats on passing.
You know how you get a vibe about a riders abilities fairly quickly when you see them ride. Imagine seeing lots of riders all the time and being paid to assess their riding. I think they can pick the good riders and adjust the test accordingly.
Either that or he was being lazy. I sure had to do a full on test for both restricted and full not that long ago.
Con merry gratuclations!!! well donE!!! :minceone:![]()
