Hah, I have a full time job. I'm not at school.. and yes I know I have no excuse. It will be sorted when I get my bike back up, I got my new jobn maybe three weeks and the first thing I bought (just last weekend) was a new rear tyre, new battery, and new boots so now I have full leathers. Insurance was gonna be bought this weekend along with a new pair of Alpinestar gloves and a new helmet which I just got a call today as being in.

I posted that I had no insurance to avoid people asking "I hope insurance sorts it" etc. It'll all be a pretty simple fix to do myself (I used to be a bike mechanic..) just an inconveniance is all.

I flew off and his front tyres went completely over my bike and reversed back over again..

I'm alright, dislocated my shoulder but popped it back at the scene, buggered foot, leg and finger. Bike's.. okay..-ish. My old man managed to ride it back for me but it's got a nice dent in the tank, all the levers are twisted, front mud guard bent and some other rubbish..

Got his license plate number and mobile but he says he doesn't want to involve insurance.. I don't even have insurance and am curious to know whether he does. He said his name was 'Goose'... F'in brilliant. He said he'd pay in cash but just wait till he hears the figures..

I was wearing full leathers so I got off with just impact damage, cept i'll feel grateful after I get over being so fucked off..

Tell the cops, you must report it by law, as if he doesnt come up with the cash and it has to goto small claims court then you will get nothing because you didn't call coppers.

    call them.

    now.

Jinkies, glad to hear you aren't seriously hurt (dislocated shoulder ), but best to get it all down and reported so you got it on file in case of all of the above and even if it means ACC or summit.

Good to hear you are relatively chipper about it and staying positive!

Tough break but sounds like you got of light, definately get insurance, it should be about $150/year for third party.

If you're struggling to pay for the insurance you'll be completely stuffed paying for someone's panel work or write off.

    Yes head to the station.

If there is no injury and no dispute over who is at fault. Police will not attend the scene.
Both parties are required to report the accident to the nearest police station within 48 hours. This also serves as a backup for you if any medical complications arise within this time frame. As then the other person can be held responsible.

If there is injury or any dispute over who is at fault. The police will attend to resolve the matter.

The details you are required to get at the scene.
    drivers license number
rego / make / model / colour of the vehicle
phone numbers - don't just settle for a mobile phone number
    insurance details

I would ask for a current address as well. The license address may not be current...

Shit man we were wondering why you didnt show up. Hope the injuries are only minor... btw youre required to report it within 24hours. I'd defo do that because youre in the right with nothing to lose, but alot to lose by not doing it.

    fuckin bummer

    Yeah, okay....

Meaning the address that the license is registered to. When the police do the checks, sometimes the address "on the license details" is not current. However if you ask for a current address, the chances are that the person will give out the real one.

    Is that any clearer...?

    Witnesses ?
Sounds to me like you've already been scammed by him ! Didn't want insurance involved ! Sounds more like he didn't want cops involved and lettin ya take the plate leads me to believe it was iether not his car or dereged anyhow ! Recon it's gonna be like gettin money out of a stone !
Worst case scenario if ya dont have witnesses is that he's already reported it and put you in the wrong !
Hope for your sake it aint like that at all !
Ya wanna get all the bumps and bruises (not to mention the dislocate) on record at ya doctor as well, cause take it from an old coote, those injuries come back to haunt ya and ACC want paper trails !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Hah, yeah I dislocated my knee a few years back which still bothers me these days..

I got witnesses with contact numbers and all the rest. The Local Liquor outside where I crashed mentioned that they probably got it on their security cameras as well so if he does cause any toruble I should contact them.

He gave me the license plate because it was smashed into like 3 pieces.. it was the only damage on his car at all.

Well gutted mate. No wonder we didn't see you tonight.

You know there's always room in the Garage here if you wanna do some work on it. I'm even thinking of putting a beer fridge in. I'LL NEVER LEAVE!

Once you two love birds have finished

Sorry to hear about your bin, but really glad that you are all OK.

Insurance - well its all been said before - its a bloody good idea.

I note that you said you "Just don't like dealing with the police" - but seriously they are just normal guys going their job.

I called them to an accident (nobody hurt) last week - they were there in minutes.

They were really helpful. They have no cause (or inclination) to make life difficult for you - in a case like this they are there only going to be helpful.

Now since a guy gave you only a cell number, gave you his name as "Goose" and let you take his license plate - I'm guessing that you will never hear from him again.

Having called the police at the time would have taken that awful feeling of uncertainty away.

I really hope that Im wrong and that he is a stand up guy and fixes it for you - but I wouldn't hold my breath.

As for the comment about "A couple of mates of mine have said they recognise his name and description.

If this guy screws me over i'll have to pay him a visit.

Unfortunately he probably will call the police - then it ends up costing you a lot more.

If it ends up that you have done your bikkies on the crash, take it as a life lesson and don't follow it up with any other action - there is no way you will end up better off.

Thats 2 bins in 2 weeks - you trying to beat EJ's record or something?
