Cyclist vs Motorcyclist? on Tamaki Drive

Today I was riding along Tamaki Drive (Aucklands main waterfront, for those of you from elsewhere) when I spied a group of cyclists and a cruiser parked up on a traffic island at the intersection of Tamaki Drive and Ngapipi Road. I didnt stop, because there was already a large number of people on the traffic island, they all looked relatively sorted,, and the cruiser looked upright and relatively undamaged (at a glance). I got the impression that a cyclist vs motorcyclist accident had taken place, and just wanted to check if anyone from KB was involved, and that no-one was seriously injured.
Would be interested to know what happened, hope all is well with all parties involved.

I was just behind you (on the Burgman this morning) and saw exactly as you did. I have seen that cruiser regularly on the commute (I ride every day), he does go a little quicker than me, not to say he is unsafe but you gotta be careful with the conflicting users on that road. You may have noted about 200m earlier 2 cyclists stopped just around a bend in the bus (bike) lane pumping up a tyre - an unavoidable target for a bus! Stupid. Nothing to add, except to say those SRX's are nice bikes. Coveted having a 600 for a while, and owned a MuZ 660 which is powered by the Yamaha 660 single. Later.

I was there, coming off ngapipi just as the cruiser pulled in and stopped by the ambo.

I couldn't tell who hit what, but once cyclist had a sore head with some ice on it.

If the cruiser hit him, how did the ambo get there before him?

What time did you go past? there was a cruiser already parked up while I was going past (looked like a little 250), although I did pass an ambo with lights on heading towards the crash about 2ks up the road. I was probably there at around 7:40am.

Hmm not too sure. Started work at 8, so I probably would have been around the same time. Maybe just earlier than you?

Meh one less n00b cyclist on the road for a while.

Makes way for BMX'ers like me.

If you see a guy on a kawasaki green bmx, chrome back rim, ripping around auckland, not giving a shit about any laws, with no helmet...

    Thats me.

    Churr.

EDIT: did a wheelie while a bike cop was glaring at me for having no helmet yesterday lol.

Sorry to say but serves the fucker right.

Cyclists think they own the road.

I have no issue with cyclists cycling in single file and behaving, it's when they block the road and start being a danger to others and themselves, when they deserve what they get.

As usual, pity someone else had to be involved...

You're right there! I drive along Ti Rakau Drive and Harris Road out East Auckland to work, and every day there is some cyclist causing trouble. Sure, they have a right to use the road, but use your common sense! It pisses me off to the n'th degree to see 3 cyclists riding abreast, or riding on the road when there is plenty of room curbside.

Its a shame that when a collision does occur it's usually the motor vehicle driver "at fault".
