Honda rvf 400

This bike has come up on turdme again and I am interested. I think $6500 is too much, but is a place to start! The low kms and high status of these bikes would mean it wont be cheap,despite its age. Any chance any VFR 400 expert up in Auckkers would care to check it out for me, or recommend a workshop for a prepurchase inspection? For a bike of that year, i didn't ride your RVF enough, but your VFR was bloodey amazing.

The RVFs are nice - and $6,500 is not a high price if you watch the market.
They are expensive - both to buy and maintain. Special sparkplugs, headlight bulbs, etc. are very expensive AFAIK.

That said - awesome looking machines and most likely heaps of fun.

I'd put my money on the NC35 as well. Provided you take care of it, keep it tidy and follow a good service schedule.

It's worth every cent. I've spent that much in total on my bike and I've just got a high mileage, rough looking VFR as a result.

I've heard a figure of ~$60-70 for ONE sparkplug. Of course this could be wrong, but I have just understood from various people that replacement parts and some consumables are very expensive.

As for normal servicing I don't think it'll be worse than other bikes - change oil and filter every 3-5,000 kms using quality synthetic oil and I can't see why it shouldn't be happy.

However, it's a 12-14 year old bike and some bits will need replacing every now and again.


But still - why are you thinking of buying one? Are you selling the Gixxer?

Nah, plugs are $40 retail each. And they will last 2 years with a a clean or two in between when it gets serviced.

Thats what it's worth with low k's and being tidy. If I was staying I would be thinking of parking it in my shed.

I was quoted $50 excluding retail mark up for the genuine NGK ones.

The bike will only except the finest, most expensive jewels if you wish to ride her. VFR's and RVF's are gold diggers man. But fuck they're one of the best rides you can get.
