Hmm.. should have taken it for a ride today. Went down to Botany Honda to pick up some gloves and there it was. You know how some bikes look much better in the flesh than in photos... I don't think the new Fireblade is one of those. Dave says cancel the afternoon and take it for a ride but I can't do that!! And I won;t have time this weekend either!!

I saw it there the other day and it looks pretty sweet! They also have the best tire prices around, as your signature notes!

Was lucky this morning and took Brads 08 CBR out for a wee spin. I take it all back. Irrespective of its looks, it is one mean ride. Thank you Brad and the crew from Oamaru Honda (except for Blair - the angry one!).................... With all these polite words you will no doubt be thinking I am on the grovel for something now.... Could be.

Went for a ride on this today.

Very very nice. Loved the clutch, gearbox and brakes. Engine was really smooth with tons of torque and it has great build quality and feel.

Would I trade the 750 for it................? nup.
I didn't like the ride position, had a sore back after half an hour. I still prefer the Gixxer looks as well.

Hi All,
Strange sequence of events, wandered into Planet Honda, Saw the new CBR1000RR in the window & thought it looked nice, small & light compared to my 99 VFR800 FI Anniversary model (I had read the specs when they were announced last year & had at the time told my wife "thats the next bike I'll get" (Joking you know how it is with SWMBO). Anyway the nice people at planet honda said we've a demonstrator - would you like to take it for a spin. Of course I would. Well on a short acquaintance with this machine I knew it was just SO RIGHT in every respect - Power, Handling, Smoothness etc it would be a great bike to own. Having just given up smoking I jokingly said "If I traded the VFR would the money I spent on smoking be able to pay it off?". Well as it happens it would, so I've gone ahead & got one. I was full of the "You should wait a year & get it for a cheaper price then", sort of thinking but in the end the sheer joy of driving this machine completely obliterated any sense I may have had. In fact three days after getting it my senses are still blown. Absolutely no regrets, this machine just gets better the more you get to know it. All I can think about is getting on for the next ride.
My daily commute (bikes are my main transport) is 27ks to work along the Whangarei Heads road (a nice ride dotted with traffic but scenic & nicely curvy) and the CBR just loves it. I got a Black & Silver one, perhaps not the sexiest version but it suits an old fart like me & is not too shocking coming from the Anniversary colours of the Viffer.
Ever since seeing an old bugger on a brand new CBX 1000 in Palmerston North many years ago, while I was still stuck on my Honda 350 & struggling to see if I could get into a Norton Atlas & thinking "that old prick will never be able to use what that bike can do", I have thought of the injustice of being young & having no money but quick reactions versus being an old fart with the ability to buy machinery too good for your own physical capabilities.
Well now that I've got one I'll try to use it to its full capabilities, so apologies in advance if I flick past, or if you recognise me & I hold you up, give a friendly set of fingers to me as you zip by........

LOL Neofin!! Mate, you're obviously still far to young for a CBR-1000.....if not in body then at least in mind. Hope you enjoy the hell out of it.
